Afer i visited a link in a post i close the website or tab. This is normal behaviour. But after that i have to open the Uktrainsim page again because i lost it. Then i must search for the post i visited the last time.
Or when i visit a link then i have to push the 'Go back' browser button till i am back at Uktrainsim. I hate that
I know the admin has the option to click on a button so we all can open a link in a new page or tab after we clicked on a link. Can this be activated please!

I second this. It's very frustrating to click a link and have it open over the forum. If the link is a detailed site, you can spend some time looking around and then having to click back a load of times to get back to these forums. I would like links to open in a new tab or window.

Well like i said before its not handy. Mainly because you then have to select an option from the window that opened. It takes two steps .. so its not quicker

Just what I was going to say. I browse a lot of content at once so I'm often opening links to peruse later, a quick click of your scroll wheel and it's there.

Yeah, but you shouldn't have to. Most times I just click the link and then bang, the UK TrainSim sight is gone. If the forum has the option to open links in a new window, lets have it turned on.
Moved to Site Admin where Matt has a greater chance of seeing it.
Personally I don't see what the fuss is about in right-clicking or pressing the CTRL key. However, if it really is a simple 1 parameter change in the PHP configuration then I don't suppose it will be much effort for Matt to do it sometime when he is making other changes.
Matt has a lot of ideas for the site but not much time to implement them and something that already had a pretty basic and easy workaround is likely passed over in favour of some of the other more ambitious ideas such as linking downloads together so if a piece of stock gets updated then any dependent activity writers get a notification of the change. That has been on the list for a while along with a lot of other things.
Just want to add my halfpence of opinion to say I DON'T want this feature changed. I find pages which keep spawning new windows from links intensely irritating. If I want a new window I'll select "open in new window", just as described by others above. As it is now at least you have the choice.

Those that open new windows are irritating, but those that open new tabs and, in most cases, leave the focus on the original tab are quite good - I'll quite happily open stuff up in a new tab to browse later once I've finished reading the site I'm on at present.

It may be just me, but this seems to be another case of trying to use a sledgehammer to crack a nut. This behaviour is not site related, it's browser related - at least it is on my machines. In the Options, or Preferences, Menu of your browser should be an option to set the default action when you click on a link; mine is set to open in a new tab by default (I use Firefox by default, other browsers may be different, but IE used to have the option to 'open in new window' before it went all tabby) rather than use existing window or tab, or open new window. Set your options so that the browser behaves as you want it to and Robert is once more your parent's male sibling.
[EDIT:] My apologies; on retrying this problem it does seem to be site related as this is almost the only site I regularly use which exhibits this behaviour. I'd been confused by the main UKTS site which opens the information screen for a library file in a new tab or window each time, leaving me with a string of information tabs along the browser bar. I'd love for it to open the first one in a new tab, then to re-use the same tab/window for all subsequent ones, but I suspect that this may be beyond the capabilities of reasonable coding.
