Railworks Graphic movement problem

Post by ieaster »

Hi
I have just purchased a new computer and reinstalled Railworks however the graphical movement in scenarios is juddery. My Graphics card is a GeForce 8400GS 1024 PCI-Ex HDTV graphics card. I have turned off the Antialising Mode, Antialising Gamma correction and Anistropic Filtering but still have the same problem I am at a loss of what to do next. I have submitted my problem through Railworks support but nothing has come back Can anybody help in what I can do next. At the moment I cannot play the game because of this.
Many thanks
Ivan

Hi

If you have version 97.8a loaded then this is probably the cause of your 'juddering' - http://forums.uktrainsim.com/viewtopic. ... 14&t=99256

We are waiting for a fix

I do have version 97.8a installed how can I revert back a version as Steam updated this. I have the boxed version only?

Well unless you keep a backup of the steamapps folder you cant. I would advise from now on to regularly make backups. Though it is hoped that a fix for this bug will be released very soon ( this week hopefully ).

If you did have a full backup from before then you could just copy the whole folder back into the game and run it in offline mode so it doesn't update as the steamapps folder can be swapped in and out if needed.

Note that version 97.8a includes a zoom facility on the head out displays, a very useful addition. Is this what you mean.

Yes if I press the zoom out key nothing happens. Have to restart it to get it back to normal.

My Railworks has just be upgraded to Version 98.2c but I still have the rubber band effect. I wish I would have stayed with Railsim now as I am disappointed with Railworks. I cannot use Railworks like this. Does anybody know whether this recent update was the one to fix the juddering?

Hi

The two scenarios that were 'rubber banding' in my own route are now OK. The problem did not affect all scenarios before 97.8a so it must be an effect that is triggered by certain items in certain scenarios. It does seem to be something that affects everyone differently.

It is a pity that as I continue to build routes in Train Simulator I get no problems at all but transferring to RailWorks a number of problems arise. I am sure they will get fixed eventually but I still wonder what it is in RailWorks that is causing the problems when Rail Simulator does not have those particular problems.

Well the problems that v97.8a introduced are gone with the latest patch for me in the scenarios it occurred in. If for you it is happening all the time I would think it suggests it is caused by something else perhaps ? With that in mind here are a few questions.

What OS are you using ?
What processor ?
How much ram?
what AV do you have ?
Have you done a defrag after the latest version installed ?
What drive is railworks installed on ?
What version of graphics drivers have installed and from where ?
Have you updated Directx to the latest release ?
What settings do you have for the graphics drivers ( detailed version )
What sound card do you have installed and have you updated the drivers ?
What other software do you have running when using Railworks ?
Have you done any tweaking of the OS settings or it all default settings ?
Is the OS all up to date ?

I could go on but you get the idea, it can take a bit of working out to find what "might" be causing your issues and fine tune or discount the usual suspects on a pc to get the best performance. Now whether any of this will improve RW for you only time will tell.
