How do I place water, creating a river?

Hi Paul,

Either use the river loft/spline tool or for a better effect... form a depression along the line of your river using the terrain tools and place a water decal which you can stretch to fit the area you want to be 'wet'! The water decal can be raised or lowered to the desired water level.

I was messing around with this last night but didn't make any headway. Any chance of getting a step by step tutorial? Sorry for the bother.
