Forum Login Issue for southcoasttrains

Posted on his behalf at his request since, well, naturally, he can't.

I'm having problems logging into the UKTS forums, I can't seem to get a new password or get in touch with an administrator, any chance of getting Matt or someone to drop me an email?

Any help?

The current spate of login problems are, as far as I can tell, down to a problem with the database server. It seems to have decided that the system has been reliable for a bit too long and now it just stops responding to requests periodically, this results in all logins failing.

The "fix" is that I need to restart the db server and that sorts it out.

If you get a login failure message can I request that you double check your password is correct and if so do NOT request a new one, email support and/or me directly and we'll look in to it - if it looks like the server is over again then we'll get it restarted, if it's ok then we'll reset your password for you.

This should save lots of unnecessary pain resetting passwords.

I'll try and find some time to look in to why it's happening ASAP.

Thanks - I've passed that along to him. I did see that post, but I saw one that said it was a UKTS Website issue, and assumed it was unrelated.

Further rather problematic problems in the er...problem...

He tells me that he's lost the password and the email address he registered on - it was an AOL email account which he doesn't have any more. I've asked him to provide an alternative email address, so should I post it on here (minus the auto-linking so it doesn't get picked up by bots, as per usual) or PM it to a mod/admin, and if so, who?

He previously simply used the save password feature, and so I think he has changed browser, OS or some other method without keeping the saved passwords, hence the issue.
