Virgin trains.
Now I know they came in for a lot of criticism but when No.1 daughter was at university in York the Bristol - York cross country route was well run and the platform staff at Bristol Temple Meads and Parkway were very helpful. The trains ran to time mostly and apart from one big engineering weekend all her trips went according to plan / timetable.
As a father that is what I want my "little girl" to be experiencing.

Would love BR any day, but living in the current times, i'm very fond of FTPE. Never had an issue with them when i've travelled with them, be it at 1am, 3am, 9am or 10pm

I've had to vote for SWT, as it provides Woking with an impressive service to London, and may well be serving as my route to college next year.
If GNER had still been in existence it would have been them getting my vote. A PROPER livery and name ! Not all these fancy colours. The Flying Scot Logo, a simple colour scheme - wondefull. And, of cource, a (in my experience) fantastic and enjoyable service.
What a difference a few years on the ECML makes though....
