Class 159 as they are probably the most comfortable DMU in the UK. Class 123 as it was the closest the DMU world got to a Class 309.

255 is an interesting one as it's hard to have a "favourite" DMU that was never built. The 255 was the planned number for the Virgin Challengers, which were to be heavily re-engineered (including fitting VP185s) HSTs with 5 trailers, IIRC for running XC services into Paddington (due to the need for ATP which apparently would have been hard to fit to Voyagers), and later Manchester to suplement Voyagers and ease overcrowding. The DfT blocked it though, but Virgin did end up running some 5 and later 6 (as it was found 5s could more than keep up with Voyager timings) trailer HST sets on Manchester services in the short term, and these were refered to as "Virgin Challengers" (although they were just short formed XC HSTs). Presumably being 255s would have lead to them becoming fixed formation, in effect going back to when first introduced as 253s and 254s. Although the actual Challenger was never seen outside of artists impressions, Virgin West Coast has now got a refurbished Mk3 loco hauled set to suplement the 390s, and this is painted in the same varient of the VT livery the Challengers would have ended up in, including the DVT looking like the Powercars would have. Other than the livery though, it sounds like it won't be much like an electric Challenger, as the refurbishment seems much simpler. For a start, the Challenger would have had Voyager/Pendolino type seats, wheras the LH set keeps it's (far superior) IC70s.

Oops, sorry again :( I suppose Virgin Trains fans can put that as their "favourite" if they can't find any other

Voted for the Class 252/253 (HST) Due to being one off the first express trains i ever went on.

And the Class 150 being the first ever DMU i went on, (From Castle Cary to Weymouth) many moons ago.
