On that trip I also passed craigentinny depot coming back from edinburgh and the only hsts that were up there were nxec's which is why I'm struggling to guess at where the power cars were.

I was on an NXEC going north today and passed a GC HST just south of peterborough at about 10:45 - the time at which the HST should have been at KX

I was on the Cr*p Country (25mins late into Leicester with no explanation or apology) service from Peterborugh to Leicester on Monday coming up to 12 and we firstly passed a Hull Trains 180, then an unbranded 180 heading South, pretty much one signal headway behind. Presume the second was the GC? (it was in First "Barbie" livery with the Great Western lettering removed, and I couldn't see a sign of anything other branding, but it wasn't easy as we were at a fair speed on the Down Stamford and they were at high speed on the Up Fast).
