pc performance

General discussion about Rail Simulator that doesn't really fit in to any specific category. A good place to start if you're not sure what category it should fit in to as well.

pc performance

Post by Shaun1709 »

Hi!! This will seem a stupid question to those with a bit of computer know-how but here goes. The pc i run rail sim on now has a 2.4 processer with 512mb ram. If i start running it on a pc with 2.0 processor with 2GB of ram,how much of an improvement will that be when running the sim??? Thanks. Shaun.

A 2.4ghz prosessor should be better then a 2.0?

You could proberly go with another 1gb of ram im on Windows 7 with 8gb no difference from 4gb though
Also have a Intell E8400 dual core with a Ati 4800 2 x 2 gb.

I purchased the E8400 and its tripled my frame rates. Maybe you could look at getting 4gb of Ram? Thats the max you can run on XP.

i had this problem a year ago (i think) i just went down to the PC shop asked for more ram so it went from 500kb to 2GB that made a fair difference. but i have also moved ll of my docs etc onto my external hard drive (500GB) so now on my pc there is only my security stuff and plugins. that made a massive difference.
hope that helps

If you buy memory make sure it will fit in for your PC, there are a few "varieties" of memory out there, and again ,
yes, bring up your memory to 4gb, this applies to all x32 windows OSs.
