In case anyone is wondering why it's presently in the North West, it's there to take part in the forthcoming 'Great Garratt Gathering' at the Manchester Museum of Science & Industry, on the weekend of Friday 14th, Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th August.

Yep we've got it at the museum for the Great Garratt Gathering at the dates listed above, but it will be on display from the 8th August also as part of the MOSI transport festival- the railway visitors have a strong appropriate Beyer Peacock theme. This is a free event and only the train rides need to be paid for! William Francis caused a stir in its arrival taking over an hour for the low loader to negotiate its way into our main gate, causing traffic chaos in central Manchester!

Also on site for the event are:

Beyer Peacock 0-4-0+0-4-0 K1 from WHR
Beyer Peacock 0-4-0st 1872 from Foxfield
Beyer Peacock 0-6-0 Lancashire and Yorkshire 957 from KWVR (recently added to event to replace 71000 after repairs overran)
Beyer Peacock Hymek from ELR
Beyer Peacock Steam tram John Bull from Crich
Horse tram from Heaton Park

Not forgetting our other locos

Beyer Peacock South African Railways 4-8-2+2-8-4
Beyer Peacock Isle of man Railways 2-4-0 Pender
BR (in Netherlands state railways liver as withdrawn) EM2 'Ariadne'
Planet 2-2-0 replica
Vulcan Foundry 4-4-0 Pakistan Railways SPS

1872, our resident replica Liverpool and Manchester 2-2-0 Planet will run the passenger trains, a demo freight will also run at various times in the day with either 957, 1872 or our ex CEGB battery shunter. Freight consists of 2x16t mineral waggons, 2x BR vanwides and an LNER design brake. 957 may also work a few passenger trains. Also to add to the rare photo opportunities out Pakistan Railways 5ft 6 inch gauge Vulcan Foundry built SPS Class 4-4-0 will be shunted outside for display (weather pending), having sat in the Powerhall for the last 10 years. Also there will be a miniature railway as well as several impressive model railways....one of which is 'Tarragg shed' a South African railways layout with live steam Garratts hauling scale length coal trains!!!! Plus a few more surprises in store...........

Not bad for a week at work!!!!!!!

Hi David

It will be into next year when I would probably have a look at it, I have 2 projects in mind at the moment to try to do before the end of the year. The first I am getting well into.

You could upload and link any pics to the atomic album from here in case someone gets the urge to have a go before I do. I think what would be needed is some "Square on Pictures" so that we can work out component dimentions for the Front, the Back, Sides and a good view of the Cylinders and rods to work out the animation. A view inside the cab would be realy cheeky, that could enable us to make a mock up cab. Then I should know better than to tell you as you have been behind some excellent models in the past yourself.
