HST Spares & Repairs?

Post by petermakosch »

Hello

I am a little confused with the HSTs. I basically need to get in contact with a train manufacturer who built the HSTs really, but I am struggling to find a website for BREL?
Can anyone help?

Thanks

I'd approach Brush Traction. They've been doing the MTU conversions and these days are responsible for another BREL product, the few current main line 56s.

Found a good link here: http://www.brushtraction.com/frame1.htm

Probably your best bet might be Bombardier Crewe. That's where the power cars were built when it was BREL.

Hi,

I'm not surprised you can't find a website for BREL, as it ceased to exist by 1989, having been sold to ABB (ASEA-Brown Boveri)! ABB then merged with Daimler-Benz to form ADtranz, who then sold to the current owner Bombardier.

Dave

Hmph. BREL lasted a while without having to be sold, merged, sold again, privatized whatever. Those were the days.

I have a cracking book on the HSTs - Two Miles a Minute by the legendary OS Nock, and also have some of the old BTC films about their making. If there's anything specific you want to know drop me a PM or post below and I'll have a look.

You could also try these guys: http://www.125group.org.uk/

I doubt you are likely to get any answers from the sucessor companies to BREL unfortunately.

cheers

Ben
