What Routes Would You Like To See?
Just as a thought now that RW is out, what routes would everybody like?
Personally, I would like to see the Cambrian Route, the one by 3dTrainstuff for MSTS was arguably one of the best routes made for it, I wonder what could be done in RW (If it's possible to do).
Another good one would be the WCML Euston to Birmingham (or further if possible) now that we've got the excellent Class 86.
Any ideas? Some reasons why might be a good idea.

Rosslare to Dublin, Southern Ireland.
That is a real cracker of a route, a lot of the journey is alongside the coast and when it turns in towards Dublin
it continues along the sea, it is high up on the cliffs going in tunnels blown out, at least one was done by Isombard Kingdom Brunel.
Leaving Rosslare it takes approx 18 minutes to travel (I thinks its 6, maybe 8miles) to the first station Wexford.
The long time is because it has to slow down to 5 mph when it gets to the outskirts of Wexford because on one side of the track
there is a main road and on the other there is a large pedestrian area.
There are no fences, there is nothing between the road and the pedestrian area at all, absolutely nothing.
As is usual with most rail journeys there is a lot of bushes, trees etc, there are little on this route.
Fort William to Malliag on the Steam train is a cracker, for those who don't know, some of the gradients are very hard work for the engine,
it's been known for the engine not to make it so it has to roll back and try again. Scenery is splendid.
Inverness to Kyle of Localsh is another very scenic route.
The last 2 are single track most of the way.

I would agree about the Cambrian, but i would like to see that modern day and from Wolverhampton or Brum, i guess it could be done in stages very much like the amazing Dorset coast route for MSTS. But if i was to have my wish i would be all nostalgic and desire the Victoria Dover route set in the mid to late 60's and some lovely vep's and cig's and of course a lovely class 71 http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/c ... _Works.JPG now that would be nice

I would love to see Waterford to Dublin, in Ireland. It's a beautiful route, passing by historic locations. At Kilkenny Station the loco is uncoupled from the train and via a switch track moves to the end of the train where it is reattached and then we head back the way we came from for about five minutes before taking a switch to continue the journey.
The train travels through Carlow City which is a great sight to see and the jouney into Dublin sees you pass by Inchiecore Works where all the Irish Rail trains are managed and cared for.
When I get Rail Works, this is the route I'm going to recreate but I have a question, can you switch from one of the loco cabs to the other in Rail Works? If not, I'll have to turn the loco around at Kilkenny which isn't accurate.

I would love to see the MSTS route Bala Hub re created for RailWorks. The superb turn of the century industrial rail network round Acrefair would look even better than it does already with the improved eye candy possibilities of RW.

The ECML from London to York set in the age of LNER or BR steam, or a modern day WCML (something to run SteelixB's Pendolinos on).
Or maybe the line from Weymouth to London set in the modern day/NSE period.

Yes of course you can, assuming you have an engine at the rear also, and is just as "paulharvey" has said. Is the list intended to be as suggestions for freeware, payware or both?
I do agree, Railworks definitely needs more routes particularly with what appears to be new motive power and rolling stock in the making. However as a route builder myself I do urge caution and restraint in what you ask for. As the primary author of the original Cambrian route for MSTS1, I can tell you that little 60 mile route took over a year of blood, sweat and tears to bring to fruition. I'm still very proud of what was achieved even if now when I run it I'm my own biggest critic (those huge gaps twixt train and platform for one thing).
I personally think you are more likely to see shorter routes or freelance/fictional routes than fully fledged prototype routes. There's an interesting discussion running over at RW America regarding the concept of "protolancing" routes, i.e. building a route that resembles part of the real world but not being a slave to the specific detail.
By the same token, a 30 mile route which packs in a good variety of scenery and operations will be more interesting than the same mileage running flat out on a 4 track main line. The bottom line is that the freeware route builders will put together what is of particular interest to themselves (in my case single track, mountainous lines) while the commercial groups will be looking at what is going to be a crowd pleaser and sell most copies. Anyhow, in the spirit of the original post, my own (purely personal) "wish list" taking into account some of the issues raised above would be:
UK & Ireland
Fort William to Mallaig

Although I feel RailWorks is better geared towards shorter routes, I would like another mainline by RS.com or a large developer such as EuropeanBahn. Any of the following would interest me Carlisle to Glasgow / Victoria to Dover / Waterloo to Bournemouth / Edinburgh to Aberdeen. Obviously these are a fair amount longer than the default routes but I would be happy with any part of them or even if they were released in stages along as the price was not too great.

I agree with what Vern say's about time and effort in creating a real route for RW, and I feel it will be a while before we see a big new route for the sim, the commercial developers will want to see how this sim goes, and if it expands the same way MSTS did, then I can see exciting new things on the horizon, but for it to expand, it will need new routes.
Vern's other point about whether I meant Freeware or Payware, I don't mind, Both can be as good, look at the Dorset Coast v5 for MSTS, It's one of the best routes made, Freeware or payware, and goes to show what can be done Imagine that route with the enhanced graphics of RW!!! mouthwatering isn't it

Great western mainline in the 1930s and 2008, complete to Bristol and maybe Cardiff. The latter with Didcot connected to the line so we can run railtours.
Midlands and South Western Junction Railway, either in the 1940s (for all that wartime traffic) of the mid 50s as a last hurrah before it was run down. Nice mix of Southern and Great Western built locomotives on this line. Good mix of freight, passenger and cargo traffic down a single line that could only run light locomotives. Classic line.
Birmingham snow hill to Dovey Junction. Late 60s. Lots of big hills and only light locomotives to get up them.
West Norwood tram system in the 1940s. For my dad.
Welsh Highland Railway as it is today. Assuming somebody builds a Garratt first.
Channel tunnel, London to Paris.
