Talk of reopening it in the local news as a cycle route. Why not reopen it as a railway says I.
Good luck, nice to see lots of GWR projects in the pipeline. I hope the producers of Railworks take note.

I know it is a shame they doing that. it would be a lovely as a preserved railway, and is such a beautiful places it should have it railway line back up and running. i am hoping with the work i am going making the route will make other people thin that as well. thanks for commentingstuart666 wrote:Talk of reopening it in the local news as a cycle route. Re: Wye Valley Railway for railworks
he is some screen shots of the landscape and of the line. the line still haven't finish and still needs some more trees and hills. hope you enjoy some of the shots i got here

37 leaving Tintern Quay Halt

37 going along the line with a rock face beside it, only just leaving Tintern Quay Halt

Cab view form the 37 going into Tideham tunnel. with a bit of a over grown affect

37 Leaving Tideham tunnel, coming to Netherhope Halt

just around the corner form Netherhope Halt is this sight bend where a farm house over looks the line.

two people wait at a foot crossing for the 37 to pass heading for Tideham

View form the farm house on the corner where we see a black 5 thundering towards Netherhope Halt

view above Tideham tunnel as a black 5 head to Tintern

A look down the valley and form the other end of Tideham tunnel

A black 5 rushing past with a train heading to Tintern near by Tintern Quay
I hope you enjoy looking throw these and will be more to come soon

Nice screenshots, but to big. 2.5 megabytes is really to big. Try compress to 70-100 kilobytes in JPG format instead PNG format.

Awesome.
When I was a child visiting my grandparents in Ponthir, Wales, they often take me down to Tintern Stations not only to look at the station, the old rolling stock and the like, but also to jump onto the miniature train that I loved back in the 90's.
Great to see someone making a route out of that.

What would you rather? the railway to fall in disrepair, overwhelmed by the vegetation, and disappear from history, or open a cycle route where the line will be kept in good condition for us to enjoy cycling/walking down the old route.stuart666 wrote:Talk of reopening it in the local news as a cycle route. I know I did back in the 90's, it's something nice being able to take your time walking down the old railway than thundering past everything at 30mph.
It's like being in a car, you won't see much scenery going at 30mph, but on a bicycle, not only you'll see much of the scenery, but also feel the gradiuate, the temperature, the smell, etc.
Least it's still exist.
