Re: I'm happy with Rail Works
I think it's OK, some things need to be done, ie AI traffic and signalling.
So , i'm happy too. I hope that the community wil give us nice add-ons.

I'm not sure, that this kind of positive thinking is allowed here, but i love it too
And i like a challenge, and RW/RS give me some good challenges

I love RW too. I reckon its great, and its not a lot of money. The 37 alone made it worth spending the extra.
Great work guys, just waiting to take over the addons at some stage.

Re: I'm happy with Rail Works
I really like RailWorks as well, so much so that I still don't feel angry for paying full price for it.
(There are specific portions of it that I really want fixed but overall the product seems to be headed in the right direction.)
Cheers,
jkxx

If you do have the promotion code, you can get a refund.

A potentially interesting post on Adam's Blog http://gaugeirregularities.blogspot.com ... t-kit.htmljkxx74 wrote:I really like RailWorks as well, so much so that I still don't feel angry for paying full price for it.

Nice to see all the positive reactions in this topic. I have the feeling this will grow to something big.
Re: I'm happy with Rail Works
Yippee!
After some initial confusion on the promo front, I’m happy to say that RW is well worth the less than £20 it cost me. I get better lighting and better frame rates than I did in RS. I know it’s not perfect, but considering its complexity, I’m not complaining. It seems that RS.com have done a lot of work on the game engine, hopefully this will allow them to make improvements more quickly.
Well done and the best of luck to the RS guys!

Re: I'm happy with Rail Works
I've been happy for the last 3 days playing, but interest is starting to fall by the wayside.Top marks for the optimizations in the graphics dept, better than I expected to be honoust.
I'm becoming bored very quickly as scenarios only have limited playability and functionality, once played that's it.The amount of time it takes to build and test a scenario is something I have to question
especially when you know all your doing every scenario is the same, drive from A-B,with no interaction from anything,so operations are very basic and mundane, might keep a 4 year old entertained
but I feel the more technical minded have been overlooked in a bid to confirm to this new vision of what a simulator should be,big mistake.
With the very basic and stupid AI I guess seeing 3 or 4 shunters going about their business as you roll into a goods yard is not going to happen with RW,or spend 15 minutes sorting and preparing a
heavy goods ready for pickup when your train hits trigger X.Couple/decouple nearest to xx,drive via, wait for trigger x,notify commands are essential imo if RW is to be taken seriously as any alternative
to what is available now,I very much doubt that will happen in the near future, the AI struggles as it is with basic commands so adding more complex is out of the question, this alone isolates the operation
folks, that doesn't leave you with much scope for a simulation of a rail network.

Maybe let's discuss this in the parallel thread and keep this thread for general expressions of happiness.mearle73 wrote:So Whats all this about, any ideas ?

Pretty graphics are ok, to hold the attention span of a 4 yr old for 20 mins.
But the advertising claim that RW is the most advanced trainsim yet, is pure waffle.
As I'm sure you're aware by now, there are plenty of threads for you to post your critical views about RW (and you are perfectly entitled to) but I'd suggest that a thread titled "I'm happy with Rail Works" is not one of them. Let's stay on topic please.
