Isle of Wight network version 2

Post by alanch »

Has anyone had any success with this newly uploaded route in Railworks?

Invalid File ID [21450]

The implication of the information and the readme is that everything is included, but you definitely need the RSDL IoW route installed.

RW Tools lists missing assets:

And there are many missing textures.

Any help gratefully received - or has this newbie dived in too deep?

You need the IOW installed first as he based it around this route so this will knock out any missing assets for:

The engines are reskins of the IOW 0-4-0 in the file library (search under the names - but you will need the IOW route for them to work) - not sure if they come with "Eric", "Ernest" & "Edward"as drivers and firemen though!

The Railwaymen are 1950's railwaymen, again in the library (search under Railwaymen :) )

Thanks - so far, so good. I've downloaded all those now.

I've also found a load of the 'missing textures' which I thought were included in the download - unfortunately, although the .bin files were in the download, a load of the Texture folders were not.

The ones I can't find are:

Please remember this is a Rail Sim release and theres no claims made by the maker that it will work in RailWorks at all. Install it in RS and then try it.

You do need the island line installed, as it uses many assets from that route.
Plus there appears to be assets from IcePak, Brill, Jefflayf , Mbrinton missing
also I have some Kuju assets missing some how

I have installed it in RS, then transferred it, using Mike's RW_Tools, to RW.

Works perfectly in RW, though I have some bogies missing from static store wagons.

I have 1 Brill item missing (the bogies, I think) and 2 Jefflayf buildings - but all works very well. The fully sceniced parts are very nice indeed.

I couldn't get it to work in RW but I loaded it up OK in RS. Besides it clearly says Rail Simulator on the banner under the thumbnail and against the Simulator line on the download page.

All the same it is an excellent peice of work - I was especially bowled over by the quarry (I'll leave people to find it) - the way it's been done is very atmospheric I thought. Clearly still a WiP but considering the work done so far is fantastic and good luck to getting it complete... it gets my thumbs up.

Hi All

Sorry for forgeting the textures files
i have uplaoded the missing files UKTS, it's now up to them, to post them.

the drver Eric & his Mate are nolonger a seperate item, but if you want a few to scater around there is an excelent download in the
UKTS/Newest files/Railsim, there is 5 packs of 10 with differant overalls with animated attudes.

The quarry and the racecource are out of date to the rest of the network, they are a little known bit of history, the racecource dissapeared about 1912,
& the qoarry, i have no idea.

Anyway enjoy it, & thanks for the your comments

Regards
Ian

Thank you for uploading Ian, it's much appreciated. Is this version the same as the one I downloaded from RS-Trainsim a couple of months ago, or is V2 different in any way?

I have got it to work except for an AI crash at Newport on the Freshwater line.

Had to copy existing driver and fireman files and just rename them as required.

Found the 5 railwayman packs and some of the scenery, For a missing fence post again copied an existing one in the directory and renamed it. Also had missing bogies on a static wagon.

Detailed terrain at stations but nothing in between. Very promising although obviously a lot still to do. Also this is all in Railworks.

Having had ambitions to model the IoW network in either Trainz or RS can I first hand out my congratulations.

My initial enthusiasm has been tempered by the fact that it appears the IoW add on is required. I don't mind geting it, it's just it doesn't seem to be available at the moment.

Looking forward to future enhanced versions, once again thanks for the routes.

I would but since loading the missing files patch it crashes when entering a scenario.

Tried re-installing but same problem. Looks like the patch did something to my install of the route. The crash happenned just as I entered the Freshwater Branch platform coming down from Cowes.

Will fiddle around to see if I can get the route to work again

I have installed into RS only at the moment. It is very good.

The only problem that I have found is with the run-around loop at Bembridge, where the Jinty I was driving collided (side swiped) the two IoW coaches that were in the platform road - perhaps this loop needs to be a bit further away?

I can see me having agreat deal of fun with this route and its subsequent incarnations.

John :)
