The simple long-term answer is to get some 2-car 450s built when SWT convert some of the London suburban routes to 10-car operation. I think the plan at the moment is to extend some units to 5-car, but a set of 2-cars would be much more flexible, and would give them some suitable rolling stock for Lymington as well.
