Personally i prefer the packagemanager and especially the new one in RW.

As you know: I got errors installing a rpk made by the Package Creator of railsim.

But then i have to settle with Dk2000 (250 miles of exellent route building) include some of your fine scenery

Just thought I'd post some screenshots incase anyone wants to give the method I suggested earlier on:

first of all make sure user account control is off (vista): start -> control panel -> user accounts -> turn user accounts on/off -> then select off

then if still having problems try this:

go start -> accessories -> command prompt



(make sure you run as administrator (right click))

then copy and paste this code into the command promp

bcdedit.exe /set {current} nx AlwaysOff

then hit enter, hopefully it should fix some of the problems

Turning off DEP might solve some issues with RW but you are basically disabling a security feature. People should understand what they are doing before blindly following the instruction

This error is not just a Vista error, but for those on XP as well. I have it on exit only, several people on my site are also experiencing it - and most of you.

I emailed Adam earlier on about it so he should be aware at least.

I have sympathy with them (I do).

Frankly, as infuriating as it is to not have been able to play all weekend, I guess it's some driver-related issue and don't entirely blame it on them.

I'd become REALLY upset if it turned out they did not testing at all on Vista 64, but I do not think it will be the case

Ah yes, but it does not say WHICH Vista...

Even Autodesk Stitcher works with Vista. It's the only other app so far that I found that tells you nothing, but just does not work (or not reliably) in V64

PS: I promise I will only run trains from countries that drive on the wrong (erm left) side, if they let me play at all...

I think that the problem is not VISTA but the problem is 64 bits systems. RS don’t support 64 bits and I’m afraid that Railworks does not support 64 bits too (anno 2009 and no 64 bits support?????, it’s like fabricating a LCD TV with only a composite connection!). If this is correct them the problem is RS and not VISTA and yes then blame it the makers of RW.

I have Vista 64 bits and by starting the first time I become the problem Railworks.Proc .error. Starting the second time no railworks.Proc .error but it freezes at the first screen of Railworks and the only way to get out was a hard reset.

I delete all of Steam, update Nvidiacard with latest driver (including Ageia)and install Steam again, log in, install Railworks and after that push the start button and…………… it works!!!!!! Playing 1 hour and no problems. I restart my computer and I try it again . Right click on steam, select my games (mijn spellen in Dutch) and on the steam screen select Railworks push the start button give permission (In Vista UAC is ON) and…………… it works!!!!!!

64bit support is still very rare among game developers because it makes much problems for programmers but very few advantages. 64-bit programs are useful only, if you have more than 4 GB of RAM.

I may be making myself a hostage to fortune by saying this, but the only problem I've had was with Steam and getting it to update itself upon the initial download and install. Since then, running Vista Home Premium SP2 64 bit has not appeared to create issues for me. Nevertheless, I did get the RailWorksProc error message once upon closing down earlier today. Since then the message no longer manifested itself and generally RailWorks seems to be behaving itself. Anyway, my suspicions will remain about Steam and whether going forward it may be the agent of a gremlin or two.

Ha Ha! I knew I should have kept my trap shut!

I thought I'd check out one of the US fictional routes. All was going well with great FPS (70-120) when suddenly, after maybe five minutes, screen crashes and the dreaded message! This has not happened on any of the UK routes for me, or on the Germans I have run so far. Looks like some further 'stress' testing is required by the authors.

This may actually help RSDL pinpoint the problem.

Would folks getting this error post here

- your OS, also whether 32 or 64 bit
- the amount of RAM in your system
- your CPU type
- video card model and specs

If there is any pattern to which combo is causing issues, this should help bring it to the front.
