Re: RailWorksProc error
I thought that was just for Vista? I'm on XP & thought by what I read it didnt apply?
Oh & thought I would go back to building some stuff for my route in RS to while away my time until I can actually see the sim I have bought (RW). Wrong, thats knackered now as well. Seriously I am a miffed man!

Wales & Borders(BR) V3.1 status.
Re-released for RW. Hopefully some of you will get it to work this time.

Re: RailWorksProc error
It may be just be a vista fix - but xp has the command prompt and DEP (the program that was causing the problem in vista for me) is installed in Vista - you could try this link: http://www.tech-recipes.com/rx/566/xp-s ... ature-dep/.
Hope you figure out a way of it working

Re: RailWorksProc error
Just as an aside to this I notice from Task Manager that the RailWorksProc.exe is using 50% of my processors without actually doing anything.
I've got RW running but only at the first screen where you select routes etc.
Any comments?

Re: RailWorksProc error
Thanks for the suggestion but once again no luck im afraid. I've wasted so much of my weekend trying to fix this - it beggers belief that they can put out a product which clearly doesn't work for a large number of users. I've got a high end machine with nothing out the ordinary in terms of hardware and I would expect the game to have been thoroughly tested on a machine similar to mine. I appreciate its the weekend and everyone needs a break but surely someone from rs.com could jump on briefly and throw me a bone. Especially on the launch weekend. Even just acknowledging the error would make me feel marginally better.turbostar1993 wrote:It may be just be a vista fix - but xp has the command prompt and DEP (the program that was causing the problem in vista for me) is installed in Vista - you could try this link: http://www.tech-recipes.com/rx/566/xp-s ... ature-dep/.

Re: RailWorksProc error
Hello Guys,
Hello Friends,
I think this is the need for intervention of the workers of the line.
In fact I download the Steam for the first time on the first day, and today I have lost many hours with readings in forums in which nothing is given.
So far I do not think there is any solution.
This is annoying to spend all the weekend behind a PC trying to fix what never should have left out, I know it is annoying to the community but now we have more people who have problems which can properly play.
When the left RailSimulator, I was the developer of rolling stock for Trainz now to RS, the game was a pledge to live if you like trains, today I think after some objects was probably lost, and all the investment that was done on the PC and Add-Ons, probably will take place in the box not the whole Trainz Collection which is visible here at home.
Just to confirm that after a long time in Steam also have a very particular view on this platform for distribution, not nice for the collector and in my opinion can go through many Steam games RPG etc ... but not because the simulation platform does not help that we of today can solve problems like this treaty in this post.
Some help for a desperate born player who will give a last chance in this game?
Should talk with data.
Truth is that nothing of what was said in previous posts decided it was useful to remove the message that was posted on the site, has no kind of resolution.
In this case just leave it:
PC Config
Vista Enterprise 32bit
Overclocked Memory 4 GB
Asus motherboard top gamers
2 * ATI 4870X2
All RPG games in the run up without locks.
RailWorks just does not run.
Sad ........

Re: RailWorksProc error
I'm also fed up with Railworks.
Downloaded it yesterday and can't get it to run because of that RailWorksProc error. I find it absolutely annoying that there is nobody from the Railworks guys reachable.
I remember that on the Railsim website there once was a forum. And guess what ? It is not available any more. What did these folks think they do ? Took our money and ran away or what ???
This is absolutely :bad-words: :bad-words: :bad-words:

Re: RailWorksProc error
I have no idea if this will make a difference but as a test have you tried turning off your anti virus real time file protection in case it is interfering ? Make sure to turn it back on afterwards though.

Re: RailWorksProc error
Of course tried to turn off Antivirus and Firewall and still no Railworks start...
AND also tried to start Steam and Railworks as Admin and with Visual Designs deactivated and Compatibility mode for XP and in different resolutions and fullscreen and windowed and and and....
Besides, if if this would be an UAC problem, aren't the folks from Railworks aware that Vista has these security mechanisms ? What did they test the game with - WIN 98 ??

Re: RailWorksProc error
Why is it that games in this era have trouble displaying at higher resolutions, were in HD times now people.
Reading this, there must be a fix but seriously, why is display resolutions always a problem with games like this?

Re: RailWorksProc error
It's not a general vista issue, it's running fine on my Vista Home Premium, just wanted to clarify that.

Re: RailWorksProc error
Hi
I do not have RailWorks as yet but have you tried creating a shortcut from the RailWorks.exe (or whatever it is) program and try to bypass the steam client (as you would with Rail Simulator) by starting the program itself directly and not through the Steam client.

Stop blaming the team behind RW, and start pounding on Bill Gates. He made Vista, and from day 1, people all over the world have problems with all kinds of programs.
Installation on Xp or even Windows7 works for most people without any problems.
