SWT 8027 seen today at Pokesdown

Post by pennywiseguy »

This afternoon, just seen this train http://johnlawontherails.fotopic.net/p36441634.html run through Pokesdown on route to Bournemouth.

I have never seen it on the Bournemouth Southampton route before.

What Class is it and does anyone know why SWT are running it?

I thought they only ran 444s and 450s.

Cheers

That's a 458. Probably headed down there for some kind of maintenance activity at Bournemouth depot. They normally operate on the Windsor lines out of Waterloo.

SWT also operate 158s, 159s and 455s.

It was running 5Z50 Winmbledon to Bournemouth. SWT usually send their 455's and 458's down to Bourenmouth for light work, usually bogie replacement/overhauls.

Some vids of 458's at Eastleigh:

And a 455:
