Severn Valley Railway
Does anyone here know of a good accurate route of the Severn Valley Railway i found a download but when i downloaded it and ran it on rail sim it was a very poor route indeed nothing like the real route which i have been on several times.
P.S. is there a download of an 0-6-0PT number 1501 which is is at the severn valley Railway. also when i downloaded 0-6-0PT 94xx there was no loco number why and how do i add my own (I want to number it 9466 a loco which i work on some of u should know it)

Re: Severn Valley Railway
The most accurate rendition of the SVR is the Blue Arrow version for MSTS - probably one of the best MSTS routes ever made.
I haven't seen the RS version you refer to but it is perhaps a little unfair to slate someone's best effort to provide an approximation in what is at times a very difficult piece of software to work with?
ISTR the Severn Valley were also a bit fussy about how their "brand" was represented in a sim and I'm sure around the time the BA route was in production or due for release there were warnings from Mike Hambly that the SVR would not permit anyone other than BA to use their corporate identity. Not sure if that stands given BA no longer exists, but it could be why people are treading carefully on this one...

shame and i did not mean to offend any one its just i have been to the SVR last week and found it very intersting and it would be great if there was a high detail route of it

Re: Severn Valley Railway
Hi plewsy
I think a well detailed Severn Valley Railway route will appear at some stage as this is a classic route and would be very popular. As has been pointed out many times on this forum already, it does take an enormous amount of time to build a detailed route with bespoke scenery items and anyone starting this route now would need to aim for at least the detail of the MSTS version which was very good by anyones standards.
A route for Vern perhaps?

I think i can answer your number problem.plewsy2105 wrote:also when i downloaded 0-6-0PT 94xx there was no loco number why and how do i add my own (I want to number it 9466 a loco which i work on some of u should know it)
I had this happen to me and i had to download the black versions of the 2251 class as the 94xx uses those numbers.

The green version is also worth downloading too:

Re: Severn Valley Railway
The SVR route your referring to is by Stephen Hunter. And to be honest I don't think it's that bad. I've had hours of fun and given the fact he didn't use DEM data or anything, I think he did a pretty damn good job of it

Not at the moment - I've laid RS aside for the time being and have started not one but two route projects in Trainz (a Euro route in TRS2006 and a UK route in TC3).Acorncomputer wrote:Hi plewsy

Re: Severn Valley Railway
Funny this should come up after the kerfuffle with the KWVR
As a matter of fact I did refer mostly to the MSTS SVR Vern mentioned as I agree the realism is amazing, but I had to use default objects so there are bound to be some differences which I couldn't help. I did make the effort to download some appropriate new objects however such as the GWR signals and someone on here made the good decision to choose to model Victoria Bridge which really helped to add more of a feel for the real thing.
I only created the SVR as a suitable route on which to run the steadily growing fleet of GWR locos thanks to Kev and Matt, some of the first being, by pure coincidence, the SVR's two 57xxs, and the 2251, which I believe was the SVR's first preserved engine, arriving in 1967. I'm still creating routes in this way, particularly preserved lines as reference material is easier to find.
Unfortunately there is no 15xx 0-6-0PT available but you never know, as there's the 57xx and 94xx, where's the 15xx? Of course she's out of service, but would look really nice in KRS, suitably begrimed like the real thing.
I'm not one who's immediately clever enough to create new scenery items and I thank Chris (ferrisybuga) for making Victoria Bridge. I presume what's also needed are the new Carriage Shed, a suitable footbridge for Bewdley - the current one's too long - and the Engine House among other things. Not something for someone to take on who spends long enough just making the route

Re: Severn Valley Railway
Perhaps you have not enabled or loaded all the necessary scenery items and they are simply not showing up. Unlike MSTS, most Rail Simulator routes will still load even with missing assets (although some scenarios will not load if rolling stock is missing).plewsy2105 wrote:the route i have is quite bare maybe iv got a diffent one. i did see one on the website earler to day perhaps il see what this ones like?

Re: Severn Valley Railway
I haven't made any new objects but you do need to download the following IIRC.
GWR Signal Kit 18713
GWR Clutter Pack 20637
Pete Gillam's water tower 20641 (now updated to v1, suggest you get)
And install the included file for Victoria Bridge.
Also maybe your detail settings are not turned up enough?

Re: Severn Valley Railway
Yes I agree the SVR is a wonderfull line I would love to see it modelled accurately. What Stephen has kindly given us is what I would call (with respect!) a bare bones version of the route. This gives 'YOU' the chance to detail it up to what your happy with using the myriad of assetts available, it won't be 100% but certainly enough to capture the atmosphere. All the hard work is done regards track laying, ok you may have to alter a few bits here and there but have a go!
I created a high detail version of the SVR but called it something else, and was done to learn how to use route editor, it was built from memory, I never intended it to be accurate, but as it turned out it's pretty darn close even to timetabled running! However I think I ended up using more than 1 track rule and that confused hell out of the package manager, so I couldn't release it!
Here are a couple of pics from it

Woah Mark, I must say I didn't recognise it
That's pretty impressive, I could never get it as good as that. You've done a top job and it's a shame it's not on UKTS.
