Good vibrations for RailWorks team

General discussion about Rail Simulator that doesn't really fit in to any specific category. A good place to start if you're not sure what category it should fit in to as well.

Good vibrations for RailWorks team

Post by vlado960 »

Rail Works will come out no matter what you think about it at the moment. However, what will be the result? The result depends about us too.
Can you work under pressing? Let's turn the story on a different way. Do you believe in positive energy? I believe. And so I want to give support to the RailWorks team. Nervous people and people under pressing are not doing a good job. Can we send to them a little positive vibrations? I think that they will thus be cheerful and be sure they will do a good job.

Sorry for my English. I hope you understand what I say.

Regards
Vlado
You must know - English is not my native language.

I agree with you totally.

Its much better to remain optimistic and give them our full support.

Hehe, I knew someone was going for the Beach Boys reference :)

I've been pretty positive about RS all along to be honest, I can see it's potential. I can also see that it's going to take time to unlock. In fact (without starting an MSTS comparison fight), we probably have a fraction of the content producers of MSTS, have a higher graphical standard to reach so every model takes longer to make and a much more flexible design (blueprints, child objects, custom scripting, etc) which is taking a long time to fathom and I don't think we've really scratched the surface yet.
And it took MSTS 5 years(?) and a clever guy to reverse engineer it to really show what it could do! Yet after 18 months of RS, with a company offering support and pushing the product further, and it being the remaining option for a "next gen" train sim now MSTS2 is gone, and people are ready to throw it in the bin.. I don't get it myself.
My hopes are that RW sells really well with it's Steam release and gets RS.com some decent money. Then we can push on as a community and get all the good stuff.. fixes, the much needed in depth documentation, we can work with them to "unclunkify" the tools... or I can think that it's all gonna be awful, nothing will be fixed, RW will be a total disaster and RS.com will be gone by Xmas.
I know which one makes me feel happier :D and also which one the guys at RS want to happen.

PS I'm copyrighting the word "Unclunkify"! :P

Im rather positive myself. Im fairly happy with RS as it is, even more so with some of the latest payware and not metion David Hossack's stunning repaints.
If can spend a whole day driving real units (although some may argue that 14Xs are not real units!) up and down the welsh valleys, and still come home use RS for a few hours it surely speaks volumes for the sim. Mk2 fixed a few bugs for me, particularly the flashing aspects and approach controlled signals and i can quite happily whip up scenarios with realistic amount of traffic which is enough for me for the moment. The work that some of the 3rd parties have produced is nothing short of incredible, making for a beautiful looking sim, with a decent amount of realism IMO

I have no vibrations either way as I don't have knowledge of what RailWorks are about other than a vague desire to do better.

I would like firm information.

Well from the information of being finally able to upload and download routes etc on rail simulator head quarters instead of downloading them here is a breath of fresh air for people or don't have the money to get memberships and have better download speeds on uk train sim

Also with the new game having a big amount of improvements i can say the graphics will be so much better than rail simulator classic

Hi Matt
Not sure that is good news for the UKTS community though.
For those that can afford the prices of RS/RW I wouldn't have though the cheap fees of UKTS would be a problem.
Cheers
