Post by 6rdfar90 »

How many reliveried 158's does EMT own??

And how many unites would be needed to provide the same capacity as 2 222's?

EMT currently has 3 reliveried 158’s with a further two in Delta Rails workshop which are due out very soon taking the total to 5. In total they have 27 units and a further two on loan from SWT to cover for the one that hit a bridge and is currently in Crewe and one to cover the refurbishment programme, which was meant to be 1 unit at a time.

The refurbished 158’s have 158 seats per 2 coach set.
5 coach Meridian has 242 seats*
7 coach Meridian has 342 seats**

Therefore to cover a 5 coach Meridian you need 1 and half 158’s or 3 coaches and to cover a 7 coach Meridian you need 2 and a half 158’s or 5 coaches.

To answer your question, to cover for a 10 coach Meridian (two, five coach sets) you would need 3 158's.

* 192 Standard and 50 First class (5 coach).
** 236 Standard and 106 First class (7 coach).

Cheers,
Ali

So do a lot of people :wink:, I used to be the same, they just bored me, then my mate got me spotting them... :x

As for the unit, I think it must of been 158847 you saw.

One things for sure it won't be 818-840 as they are with ATW.

158842 is another Northern unit, also in Northern livery

158852 is with EMT, last seen in Central Trains livery, possibly could have been repainted
