Cornish Riviera 2 (Paddington Penzance)

Post by g4vvz »

Hello, I hope somebody can help...

We recently got Paddington to Penzance CD (v2.5), a wonderful route – really enjoyable. Last week I downloaded the Cornish Riviera 2 activity. I got a warning about different versions of route database but it installed and after fixing some missing stock it seemed to run OK. A problem however, running into Paddington we get a red signal just outside the station and it never clears. I tried skipping getting coal and water to arrive as soon as possible but no joy.

I’ve run the activity in the Activity editor and I see the train stops briefly at the signal then runs into the station. Any ideas would be very welcome!

Is the problem because the activity was developed on an earlier version of the route?

Hello!

I've tried that and it doesn't work. Could be a few reasons: it sounds like the fix has been tried with diesel/electric locos and this activity is with a GWR Star class steam loco. Also, when you hit the red light you are already going backwards so I tried putting the reverser forward and going through the light as described but I still get the "ignored red light" death message.

Thanks for the idea. Any others??

Hi g4vvz, the trackdata base issue should not be a problem, I've loaded quite a few Activities and had this message many times and just carried on and run the Activity without any problems.
I have like you installed the Activity when I had the Route in MSTS, but unfortunately for some reason I never got started as it looked at the time a very difficult one to do.
I might have another go later on now I've got more experience, reading the Description in the Activity File as I didn't want to bothered writing it all out, the author does state it is not a straight forward one to do and will last well over 4hrs to complete.
I would put it away somewhere safe and don't try and solve it for the moment, there are many more easier and more enjoyable ones for the Route still for you to do.

Hello Bob,

Well I enjoy a challenge (which is what attracted me {and my son} to the activity) and the fact it tries to re-create a famous run from the Churchward era. I currently wonder if there is a window for getting to the signal. To late and something’s in the way or to early and some other AI traffic blocks the path. My son is trying to run down to Paddington a bit slower and we’ll see how we get on…

Hi g4vvz, I do like a challenge as well because I'm doing the Activities for the 1920 Skipton-Carlisle line and despite completing some of the Activities, others are not working the way they should.
This started when I did the first three of the same run under different weather conditions, it failed to put you on the correct path to get to the Loco Shed, despite tripping the correct R.Pts, luckily I had a downloaded version so I just re-installed them all.
I did the first one again I got into the correct siding but couldn't get it to finish, I looked in A.E. and saw there were no to end Location Point on the Players Path, so I put one in and resaved the Activity and spent 1hrs and 35mins re-doing it only to find that the R.Pts don't send you down the correct path to get to the Loco Sidings again.
Another which I have just done, had at least 3 Location Points which had messages for you didn't trigger even when passing over them, so I couldn't get it to end properly and yet I'm doing "Derailment in Carlisle" which the location points are working correctly, thus proving my computer that is working properly.
Stick with the Cornish Riviera 2 and I will have a go when I'm finished the Skipton-Carlisle Activities.
P.S. Just had another look at the Activity where I didn't see the 3 Location Points and each one you had to stop to trigger them, no wonder as you were on the move on each occassion.
Unticked the need to stop and will have another go at it tomorrow.

Hi guys, I recently bought the v2.5 community CD, and I agree it is a great route, although I am not entirely sure about the 125mph speed limit between Taunton and Exeter with those sharp curves.
There are a small number of activities using BR Class 43 (I like driving them) but they are for versions 2.4.5; 2.4.6; 2.4.7 and 2.4.8 - would I be able to download them into my 2.5?

Thanks guys, Robbie

Yes :) there havent been any changes to the track for a while now. Most version revisions were scenery additions.
Those activities should work fine on V2.5

g4vvz - I have just run this activity as far the Cornish Riviera departing Paddington. I got the red light just outside Paddington as I was reversing the loco into the station but Permission was granted to pass it.

Hello chaps,
Thanks to all the help and good advice on this site I have managed to fix most things, up till now that is!!!! :(
I have downloaded this activity but i am getting these errors:

GWR47xx_01\GWR47xx02T.wag

GWR81xx\GWRPrairie81xx01.eng

I have tried everything I can think of, these loco's aren't in my trainset folder and I can't find them in the downloads on this site.

Any help anyone???

Terry.

Hi Terry, have a look at the following files they may help you with the GWR47xx loco, I also had problems finding the GWR81xx so I changed that using A.A. to GWR51xx

Hi Terry,
have you got the CD version or did you down load the route,as the 81xx might be on the CD,the 47xx problem looks like it might be the tender thats the problem as the error message ends in wagT.

The only thing you can do about the 81xx Prarie is to find a similar class not sure if the 81's were a Large Prarie if it then use the 61XX or a Small then use a 45XX.

According to my Ian Allen 1961 book (that shows my age) the 81xx were a rebuilt by Collet in 1938 from 7 class 51xx Prarie, they had a higher pressure boiler, and smaller wheels.

If there is a 5100 in the down load libery use that intead, you will have to use either conbuilder payware, convoi free from activity simulator world,or AE to change the 81XX.

The 47xx you need is file ID 3396,there also another one in the libary as 4700.

Hello chaps,
Thankyou both for your quick responses. I will try these things out later as I am at work at the moment ( I am also on a totally opposite time system-I'm in New Zealand!!)

I have got the P2P 2.5 CD and was expecting all the required stock ( including what Derek put in the download) would have been on there, as the Cornish Riviera 1 act uses many of the consists that are in the CR2 activity.

I'm positive I will be able to get the activity running now that you chaps have pointed out these things I have obviously missed( it must be my age Michael, I either need to put my glasses on or adjust the resolution on my screen). :D

Terry.
