Ok, judging from a side drawing of what I think to be a class 27, although if it is, it is one of the first Lancashire and Yorkshire number 11. It has 15 spokes on the driving wheels, i have not found out about the tender spokes as the book In question does not have them in it, but would the trailing wheels on a lanky and yorky 2-4-2 have the same amount as the tender spokes

The black motor is a nice little model though i have noticed both the cab side numbers and br logo flicker at different angles, i have come across this when testing models in the past, i have a feeling it's quite easy to fix?

Hopefully not too long, I've just noticed there's a few mods to do but it shouldn't take long.

Meanwhile here's the 652 with it's older brother/sister?????? the 812 Class.

The boiler is set very high on the LSWR loco, so the empty space between the frames is particularly noticeable.

So I have been looking at Decapod's engine and trying to figure out about inside valve gear. I had a go at making some inside Allen valve gear for one of the (outside cylindered) HR locos, Stephenson gear was similar so it might pass for the same on an LSWR, HR or CR 0-6-0... Then here is the bit of trying to make everything fit (and I have been doing a bit of staring at Decapod's SECR 0-6-0... I have to get a crank axle and connecting rods in too - but how high were the cylinders? at what angle were they set? The diagrams I have used for the HR and LSWR 0-6-0s (and 4-4-0s) do not have that information... Does anyone know any more? Anyone have a GA drawing of the 700 class or Barney or Ben?

Hello Darwin. Glad to hear you are having a crack at the inside gear. You could consider a partial representation as I think the lower eccentrics and rods would be nearly invisible, especially as there is a big weigh shaft and counter weight going across the frames. Bradley`s book gives the inclination as 1:10. I will scan the valve gear G/A drg tonight if this helps.

I ran the 700 lastt night and noticed that the tender wheels were revolving the oposite way to the locomotive wheels,ie loco wheels going forward tender wheels going in reverse.

... I will look at that again, but please double check at very low speed, because i think that is an MSTS optical illusion, above a certain speed they appear to go backwards in MSTS (and in shape viewer) it is just something about spoked wheels...

I've had a 700 with working Stephenson valvegear on the drawing board for some time - must finish it.

Because it has a high poly count it does have this tendency to crash out which diminishes my enthusiasm somewhat.

There's a piccie on http://www.penplans.co.uk look for the trainsim page. I haven't touched it since the pic was uploaded.

The contrary rotation of tender & bogie wheels can be because of the axis of the parts - try turning them 180 degrees.

I have checked and the tender wheels definitely go in the right direction at low speeds. (They do seem to go the wrong way at higher speeds.)

Cua's 700 class loco looks nice - so I probably won't be foraging further into LSWR territory again - too many locos from North of the border to keep me busy...

One thought though reading bits about LSWR M7 cabs and sounds in the New Forest thread, perhaps I should look up both LSWR Drummond cabs and CR Drummond cabs (perhaps LBSCR Stroudley too...) to help me improve my picture of what Highland Railway cabs were like and so improve my cab views...

...one day... as Chua says there just aren't enough hours.

That class 700 looks good,and I like the look of the Tavern Car and it's trailer,hope you will release them at some stage.

Darwin your loco's look good as well,I'm impressed with your class 700,I tried it again today and it was an optical illusion once I got up a bit more speed they started going the right way.
