Recently I got a new box with an ATI 4850 card. Just recently, I updated the drivers for it. Now when I press Ctrl + Esc to briefly switch out of the sim and go back in, I get faced with a fuzzy pixelated mess on the screen. Rolling back the drivers didn't do good either. I've noticed it doesn't appear to affect all games that require full screen.
Has anybody else experieced this problem? If so, how did you resolve it?

Re: ATI graphical issue
The graphics card is pretty new, (I think) so it might be a compatability issue. I have not experianced the problem, so i do not know of a cure, sorry.
Re: ATI graphical issue
Hi,
I'm not sure if this is relevent to your particular problem but it may help to shed some light on the problem. I have noticed that I get unusual content in the gaming window on start up and exit if I have an activity which I am constructing or debugging present, which has faults in it, such as erroneous or missing model calls in the consists. I don't know why this happens, but this is the MSTS graphics engine we are dealing with here!!! IMHO, I think your drivers are probably alright, it's almost certainly something to do with MSTS.

Re: ATI graphical issue
I'll be honest and say you should never update drivers for graphics cards. NVidia once told me that the drivers shipped with the card are always the best and you should only update them if the update is known to fix a problem you have.
What exactly do you mean by unusual content|? Error messages if you have stock / consists missing is normal.
Ive got ATi radeon cards - 3250x i think - and it works fine out of the box
What screen resolution are you trying to run at. Remember that the editor, in particular, likes 1024 x 768 best.

Re: ATI graphical issue
I'm beginning to think the same thing. It is not the first time I have observed abnormalities after updating drivers. This system ran like a dream up until a few days ago where I have to plan my activity running so I don't need to exit the sim. I might get some advice from someone on reinstalling the card.Lad491 wrote:I'll be honest and say you should never update drivers for graphics cards. Re: ATI graphical issue
I just installed a 4870 with the latest drivers.
MSTS works fine (although its in windowed mode due to wide screen monitors), not seen a problem, but I've not replicated your actions.
