Rail Sim- Not Loading

General discussion about Rail Simulator that doesn't really fit in to any specific category. A good place to start if you're not sure what category it should fit in to as well.

Rail Sim- Not Loading

Post by NeneValleyRailway »

Having stumbled across Rail Simulator in the Game store yesterday I decided to buy it to see how it faired. Got home inserted disk and ran the install all fine. Double clicked the Rail Sim icon and I get the window appear but then it shuts down with the Send/Dont Send message. I have done a search here on the forum concerning this issue and it seems that the sim does not like Intel Graphics cards and with that being the card on my laptop this seems the problem.

Is there any way round this? so I can play Rail Sim either on my laptop or desktop machine, or do I have to upgrade my desktop machine graphics card with one that is compatible with Rail Sim.

Thanks in advance. :)

When you get the initial small opening screen, you get 'start game' and 'options'. Click on 'options' and check that the language is set to English; and that the screen resolution is the same as your monitor. Click on 'test' and if it's happy then click on 'OK'. You only need to do this once.

Once you are happy that the game opens, I strongly recommend that you register at http://www.railsimulator.com to pick up Patch Mk1, the Dev tools and Patch Mk2 (and I think that's the order you install them in).

The Intel Integrated Graphics Media Accelerator is no good for this game, certainly in many cases. The fact that this is a laptop won't be doing you many favours as you canot change the card unfortunately.

But you could always check the card type by going to this site.
