West Coast

Post by Backfoot2002 »

After ruining the Morning Commuter activity, I decided to start all again and have completed this activity, running from Liverpool to London. All traffic, minus the freight in based on real timetables. I originally took over 40 shots, but Ive just posted a small selection. You will probably notice some new stock in there too, which is going to be part of the activity.

Activity is set around 2003/2004 with a mix of mainly Class 90s & 87s, and the odd 86. No Pendolinos though!

Just out of interst, would people like to see more activties using the loco hauled stock? A few idea I have are:

- 1999/2000 Mixed and matched sets, running a Class 87 from London to Wolverhampton

- 1999/2000 Holyhead - Euston HST, mixed and matched sets.

- 1994 A rush hour service from London to Rugby (Via Northampton using the NSE Class 321 from Great Eastern.

- 2001 - Class 86 rescue on the mainline, using a Virgin Class 47

Im not expert on the WCML, so if any stock seem out of place let me know, or drop any suggestions you may have.

The last time I went to London on a loco hauled service (just as the Pendo's were half way through being introduced), we were having power problems with our 87, we got to Rugby & stopped in the loop, with a replacment 87 in the road next to us. Stopped there for 10mins with nothing happening, then we suddenly started to move off without swopping units, only to stop 5-10 mins later on a level crossing (literaly) with the power unit dieing completely on us, and having to wait 15mins for a thunderbird to come from the South (London) & rescue us.

I was planning on making that into an activity, but if your after ideas, then theres my idea if you wanna go at making it :)

Rob

The fifth item of stock appears to be the activity?

Sorry about that. Copied and pasted all the way down and forgot to change one. Now corrected.

The 1994 one sounds good but I don't have Great Eastern!

could possibley make a seperate one with the WCE 321 too?

You could substitute the stock yourself if you so wish. I'd rather use the 321 from GE as it is
a) a better sized model (the EB one seems a little too large)
b) better ENG file

(this is a personal opinion).
