Dorset Coast v3 randomly freezes

Post by energize »

Hello my PC has a dual core 2.66GHZ processor and a Nvidia 8600GT graphics card running Vista. I bought the Dorset Coast V3 CD - installation was fine, when I loaded it I adjusted the settings to the ones it recommended, but when running in free mode or playing an activity MSTS suddenly freezes at random 5-10 minutes in. I've installed the CD patches from UKTS to no avail - has anyone else had this problem?

Generally this is caused by the appearance of something which your PC cant display because of memory issues. It can be a piece of AI, in which case the location of the freeze may vary slightly if you meet it slightly further or before the previous time, but its often a scenic item. The only solution im afraid is to turn your settings down. Try turning your quantity of sounds down to medium, turn off shadows and specular lighting, and turn all other settings down two notches.

Are you running trainstore and a single activity using easy trainstore? This can reduce the loading on msts and help. Also use the Msts Bin patch, if you arent already, as this has better memory management facilities than the original game.

Could potentially be caused by overheating as well. One thing I will say is that uninstalling and reinstalling is not going to solve the problem. If turning down the settings does not work then we can help you investigate the possibility of overheating.

Ben - your problem may be fixed by installing the latest tsection.dat file into your global folder.
You can download the latest from the home page.
