A little help?

Post by ThomasTelford »

Hi Folks. :D

Just a quick question which i hope someone will be able to answer for me in a simple way.How do you go about uninstaling individual pieces of stock from store when you are using Trainstore.I have tried reading the instruction but i cannot seem to see where it gives you this information.
Any help would as ever be wonderfull.

Kindest regards ~ Thomas Telford. :fadein:

When I want to reinstate one or two items of stock which are stored, I open the Train Store "store" folder, the one which contains folders labelled TSADATA, ROUTES and TRAINS , open Trains >Trainset and "CUT" the item I want to restore, before "PASTE"ing it into the MSTS Trainset folder. If you Copy rather than CUT there is a possibility of problems arising if you alter the .eng or .wag files and then restore the item.

Not one that I've ever really thought of.

I think that provided the item you want to uninstall is not actually used in an activity or a consist, then just unstore it and delete its folders from your MSTS folder and the TrainStore Store folder. You should be able to delete the item without Unstoring it, but TS does remember which items are actually Stored, and doing this can confuse it.

hI,
I have not used these options myself so can not give advise on use.

But I believe the sections in the manual 'Train Store List Editors' and 'Lot Numbers' allow pre-set stock lists for use.

Hope this helps.

You should also look at the section of the Trainstore manual on Maintenance Mode - that will allow you to unstore a selection of rolling stock.

For just a few items of rolling stock that I want to work on I just move them from the Trainstore store into the correct MSTS folders, like Tony. I usually do this using 7Zip, which has a two pane mode - just select in one pane and drag to the other (for anyone as old as me, that is how the old Windows File manager used to work).
