I cannot get a green signal to allow me to leave Grantham station.

I also have had the problem of not being able to proceed from Grantham because of the red signal.
I should have thought that some more people would have encountered the problem, unless I am not doing the activity correctly.
There have been about 136 downloads, and can someone who has managed to complete the activity tell me how please.

I am sorry for any problems people are having with this activity, this is my first attempt at an activity and i think i may have made it a little to complecated. What i think is happenig to the people who are getting a red signal at Grantham which will not change is they are leaving the Peterborough Sorting Office siding too early, which means you are getting ahead of an AI train which should slow your journey to Grantham. The AI train will hold you at Peterborough station. Here is what should happen

I couple up to the three TPO's in the Peterborough Sorting Office siding at approx 16:04, an AI train will then go past you while you are in the siding arriving at Peterborough at 16:05, Your train will arrive at Peterborough while the AI train is in the station. The AI train will leave at 16:06 and the red signal which is holding you will change to amber at 16:07:43.

The AI train will give you problems all the way to Grantham. You should reach Stoke Tunnel at approx 16:21 where you should pass another AI train in the tunnel. You should arrive at Grantham at approx 16:24.

Another AI train should get to Grantham at 16:26 and depart at 16:27. The red signal which is holding you should change to amber at 16:28:38.

I hope this will now mean you can play my activity. If this is not what is causing anyone who plays the ME Peterborough Mail activity the problem with the red signal please let me know and i will look into it further. I did test the acitvity 10-12 times to iron out any problems but may have missed something.

Hi Michael

It is currently 16:29 and I am sat at a red light at grantham.

I was behind the train from peterborough all the way, and while I was getting the second set of wagons another train stopped in grantham, and pulled away again. I am still stuck.

Having reloaded a saved game, I think I can see what has happened. I get to the first reverse point, and reverse to get the wagons. I notice there is no reverse point behind me, but a red signal. This must be for the AI train coming from behind. It is possible to couple to the wagons without hitting this signal (just!) but without getting to the reverse point you can't go forward.

After some too'ing and fro'ing, I discovered I got a "permisison granted" on the red behind, so went back quite a bit; then forward; and got permission granted on that one. The next one was red, until I was very close, then it became green - so I guess its something to do with reverse points - I was off the path, when I came back on it I got the green!

I will take a look in the activity editor later to see exactly what is up.

So far I have moved the reverse points, the first grantham one is now just past the signal rather than before, and the second is closer to you. I also moved the wagons further north, away from the signal behind; and am testing.

I have just picked up the wagons, hit both reverse pioints fine, drawing forward, red signal at junction with nottingham branch, it's just changed yellow now, so all is well.
