Unistalling Trains from the Trains/ Trainset folder
Hi. I would like to know how to unistall a train from the Trains/ Trainset Folder (or MSTS completly) because one train has a problem when i try to create a new consist it show up with "Error reading Train Database" for the ENG file for that loco, and for some reasons shuts down the editors and tools, i have Route_Riter downloaded, which might help.
Re: Unistalling Trains from the Trains/ Trainset folder
You should be able to simply delete the train folder from your trainset/trains folder. You may also need to delete any associated consist. If its been used in an activity you will then get other errors. You can then run Route-Riter and pick the check all activities option and it will tell you which activities are calling for it, then you will have to delete those too.

Unfortunatly, it STILL comes up with errors trying to read the ENG files and STILL shuts down the Editors and Tools, is there a more simple way to reslove the problem than unistalling / reinstalling MSTS?connorurry wrote:O.k Lad491, will do it but any problems i will post back here.Lad491 wrote:You should be able to simply delete the train folder from your trainset/trains folder. What are the actual errors? can you list them here.? If there are too many just try the first couple. It maybe that you havent located everything or have deleted the wrong item. Did you run the check all activities function in RR and what did that report?
You definitely dont have to do a reinstall, thats virtually never necessary at all.

Error reading train database - Trains/ Trainset/ SC171/ SC171.engLad491 wrote:What are the actual errors? can you list them here.? If there are too many just try the first couple. Re: Unistalling Trains from the Trains/ Trainset folder
ok - so the first thing is the most obvious. Have you deleted the right loco folder? It should be a folder called SC171.
If you have deleted that folder - double check just to be sure you didnt delete the wrong one - then there must be something still looking for that stock.
Route-Riter can check all consists, so I would try that function first and you should get back a list of consist where it cant find the stock - see if it shows up there. Run the Quick Consist Check - button in the middle lower half of the RR screen on my version. When it finishes you will get a page showing the errors. If there aren't any it will be blank.
The other thing is it could be an activity calling for it, so again you need to check that too by checking all activities.
Let me know when youve done both of those tests and what the results were, then we can carry on.

That error suggests that a consist is calling for an item of rolling stock that you haven't installed. Have you downloaded and installed this?connorurry wrote:Error reading train database - Trains/ Trainset/ SC171/ SC171.engLad491 wrote:What are the actual errors? can you list them here.? You are not going to get anywhere if you keep uninstalling and reinstalling MSTS - you have to be far more systematic when you install stock, activities or routes, and make sure you have everything you need to make them run. That means you must read all the Readme files, and download everything you need.
You might find it easier to buy some of the Community CDs which come with everything you require.

Re: Unistalling Trains from the Trains/ Trainset folder
Then Im guessing it needed other bits to make it work, possibly sounds and cab files or aliasing to those somewhere. Do you want us to try and get that working for you, or would you rather continue trying to remove it completely. If you want to try and get it working i'll download it myself and see whats needed.DID downnload this, only when i opended Activity Editor did i get these errors
EDIT :
I suspect the problem with the editor is that the textures are 1024 x 1024 which isnt a size compatable with some older graphics cards. I notice from the readme file that there are two consist files so make sure you have deleted both. One is called Southern Class 171.con the other is called Southern Class 1717.con

Re: Unistalling Trains from the Trains/ Trainset folder
well ive told you how to do it. If youve deleted the stock folder and the two consists then it should be gone. If you run Route Riters consists and activities checks that will tell you if anything else is looking for it. Once you get clean bills from those shut down msts and reboot your PC. It should be ok then, unless youve installed more than one item of stock in which case you may get more errors.

Have you downloaded and installed Routeriter, and run its tests? If you Check All Activities, All Consists and Rolling Stock the error reports will tell you what is wrong. If you don't understand what Routeriter is telling you, get back to us.connorurry wrote:I did it but still errors showing up?Lad491 wrote:well ive told you how to do it. Re: Unistalling Trains from the Trains/ Trainset folder
and also, is the error you are getting the same as before? If it is then there must still be something left behind you havent deleted yet. As both Alan and I have said Route-Riter will tell you what that is.did it but still errors showing up?
