Re: SERVER MOVE WEEKEND
Well the new servers seem to be working well from here. Stonkingly fast downloads from the library and the forums seem to be zipping along.
Good one Matt

Re: SERVER MOVE WEEKEND
The CD Ordering link is giving me a server generated error message
http://www.uktrainsim.com/ordercd.php
Also the alternative login link if you get the login boxes again after signing in (it has a port number in the URL) isn't working.

When I tried a dummy order on the CD ordering and hit the pay by cheque button I quote this

Re: SERVER MOVE WEEKEND
Excellent stuff, Matt! Works brilliantly for me, page loading is instant and downloads are in the region of 600-700kb/s where I'm sitting.

Re: SERVER MOVE WEEKEND
Is the free download server speed supposed to be the old speed of 2kb/s?

Hi All
I have got the new super speed connection OK!
Brain a bit frazzled with the speed though.

Re: SERVER MOVE WEEKEND
The Atomic Album seems inaccessible. Login OK, but no pictures do not appear when clicked on.
Edit - It is OK now.

Re: SERVER MOVE WEEKEND
It would appear that Matt currently has it configured so there can be 10 concurrent downloads for non-premium but they are all limited to 2kb/sC2DRules wrote:Is the free download server speed supposed to be the old speed of 2kb/s?

Re: SERVER MOVE WEEKEND
It's going to take a bit of time for all the DNS changes to propogate so there's going to be a bit of wierdness i'm afraid.
Laurie - what you were seeing is that your system was taking you to the OLD server for the main site, which was then redirecting you to the NEW server's "down" page, which does indeed say 8th september
I'll put another page on there to say that the system will be back shortly, mean time it's just a matter of waiting i'm afraid!
I've managed to get forums on my home desktop but not the main site - on my work laptop (at work) I get the main site, but not the forums hehe
I haven't rebooted my Cable modem yet though, wifey's busy on the net tonight and i might not be popular (hmm... no difference there then
).
CD ordering should be working a bit more healthily now.
NON-Premium downloads should be no different, 20kb/s split over 10 concurrent downloads (that's what it was before, wasn't it?) - sorry folks but moving the server to the UK for fast access has meant costs per terabyte have gone UP. Thankfully going from three servers to one and reducing the overall bandwidth i'm paying for has meant that the overall cost has gone down a bit but with subscriptions on the decline again there's not much chance of the free bandwidth improving. Pay £3 and enjoy the speed demon access you can now get
Matt.
