Ashburton Branch - Staverton

Post by davemarvin »

As this is my first attempt at posting screenshots on the Forum, I hope you will bear with me. Thanks to Doug and Pete for their advice at Harrogate today.

As a recent recruit to MSTS, I have so far spent most of my time on the 3 GW Branchlines routes, and I would like to thank Reg Furniss for the immense pleasure they have given - I hope he will not mind me using Ashburton as a learning experience. I'm afraid my technical ability with MSTS is zero, so I concentrate on the image rather than the wizardry behind it.

I have already posted these shots on Atomic Album together with a short description for each, but most of you seem to let shots on the Forum speak for themselves. I would appreciate any views on whether descriptions are useful or just a bore ?

Well here goes with just a couple of undistinguished ones...

Undistinguished? Nonsense! On the evidence of those two shots, you certainly have the knack. A few more would be most welcome. :D

As for descriptions, it's up to you really. Some do, some don't, I personally like them as they can help to set the scene and let anyone who doesn't have the route but is considering getting it know what they could expect to see and where.

I would also point out that spaces in screenshot file names are best avoided. If you do want a space in the file name then when you post it on the forum replace the space with %20

Nice shots.

That second one is very atmospheric of the GWR period, I look forward to more of the same in the future

Encouraged by those kind remarks, I have added a few more shots. I have also taken John's point and removed the spaces in file names.

These final shots of Staverton show some veterans passing through for a weekend railway show at Buckfastleigh (of which perhaps more later).
