I voted for don't know because I live in Sheffield. It's difficult to get a place more central than this and seeing as there's no "central" region in the poll it left me with little choice.

You are being a bit insular there (an unfortunate trait of most of us Brits I'm afraid to say) but what about a category for 'outside the UK'?

Well according to my Avatar Ludham, Norfolk, UK. In the Norfolk Broads (which for any American viewers is a large mysterious damp and dark area of questionable provenance - oh, sorry, that could apply to the American definition - ok an area of wetlands, water filled medieaval peat diggings, marches, rivers and picturesque villages, and not so picturesque women. If anyone says to you "The Norfolk Broads are Beautiful" just check they mean the geographical area and not the local wildlife...).

Prior to that, lived and worked in Staffordshire, except when I worked in Birmingham for a certain outfit who paint bus shelters green, and was born in Walsall into an old Darlaston family.

In addition, Sheffield and Rotherham are both in Yorkshire, not that you needed me to tell you that. In Government Planning terms that makes them a seperate region of Yorkshire and the Humber, but not north-east, or north-west. Nor are they Central. The West Midlands are Staffs, Shropshire, Herefordshire, Worcestershire, Warks, the West Midlands, and the East Midlands are Derbys, Notts, Leics and surprisingly Lincolnshire and Northants.

So there you are. Typical Yorkshire and office of the Deputy Prime-Minister, setting up Yorkshire and Hull as a seperate region....
