What sad news to hear about MSTS2. I have been away for a short break and have just read what's happend. I have read all of the posts on the (what was MSTS Forum) but was unable to add my comment, because all the threads have been Locked!
So, I would just like to say that I feel sorry for all the Aces Team who have been made redundant and it is a very sad day for Flight Simmers as well as Train Simmers to hear this bad news.

I've been locked out too for showing sympathy, it's not worth it to be honest, although it may resurface.
Least we got Rail Sim and the current MSTS and BVE to keep us tuned in

Re: IV'E BEEN LOCKED OUT!!
Just to make things crystal clear - nobody has been "locked out" on an individual basis. The entire MSTS 2 forum has been moved into the section where nobody can post and all the threads are in a locked status.
This decision was taken by the site admins who performed the maintenance earlier on this week and has nothing to do with people "showing sympathy". With MSTS 2 dead and buried (see other postings regarding the project team exploring buying out the IP from Microsoft and that not happening) there really was little point in continuing discussions.

Re: IV'E BEEN LOCKED OUT!!
Also guys please note the NEW section for "Generic Simulation".
Feedback on MSTS2 is alive and well but we have to be realistic that "the patient" is in a deep coma from which it may, or may not, recover.
Already there is feedback on an update from M$ on TS Insider. Follow the links on that to FS Insider and there's a modified version of the same message.
I doubt TS or FS are dead. They may be "resting" for a good while and they may resurface in a different format but IMHO a close watch on M$ "virtual" development progress will have a big influence in what we see in future.
A look at the "Credits" section for ACE's shows just how many folk were involved on both projects and past development history has shown that M$ has been quick to recruit input from outside developers with expertise in the fields.
I've already shared sympathy with the teams immediate future but IMO things will have to get REALLY bad (yep they're pretty bad already ....but....) before an organisation as big as M$ throws away all that they've gained from their investment in these titles so far.
If you missed my post on the MSTS2 forum, my request for a "cross sim" thread was so that we could look at and discuss, without silly point scoring, the strengths and weaknesses of what's available today. We already have threads specific to EACH Sim but they naturally look at specifically at problems in that Sim. By looking at what A can do that B can't and how C does something better than A,B & D maybe it'll inspire some creative workarounds or fixes?

Re: IV'E BEEN LOCKED OUT!!
I agree with you, I started a thread about how childish the RS vs MSTS debate was, and it turned into an entertaining thread about ancient computers and devices!!
The Freeware downloads for RS seems to have increased dramatically this year, but I still haven't ventured over to the "Dark Side" (sorry for using that turn of phrase).

Re: IV'E BEEN LOCKED OUT!!
The new~ish Generic Simulation forum is suitable for future MSTSX thread ponderings. I agreed with the change because the old forum serves no purpose now, however, the new forum is the place to post on the subject if we wish to continue aforemention ponderings (and wonderings).
