Re: At Last East Midlands Parkway Opens
After withdrawing the daily Burton-on-Trent service last December passengers have been told to now drive from Burton to East Midlands Parkway instead.
£5 a day for a Park and Ride station, then £9, thats robbing people.
To be fair though if it had opened on time it would have been a bit busier as this is the first I've heard of it.
Final bit of rant, they offer 2 direct services an hour to London, which is good, except they leave at 32 and 39 minutes past every hour, giving you a 50 minute wait if you miss your train or wanted a convenient departure time. The return trains are also only 10 minutes apart.

Are there no direct trains from Birmingham New Street? I've just looked on National Rail and they are saying you have to change at Derby?

Cross Country don't run their Birmingham trains that direction, the leave Leicester to the South and EMT don't serve Birmingham, so I'd assume a change at Derby or Leicester will be needed.geezertronic wrote:Are there no direct trains from Birmingham New Street? When the Ivanhoe line opens that would go from Burton to East Midlands Parkway via Leicester EMT would run that there still going on about it only got half the money but they do want to open it up again

Re: At Last East Midlands Parkway Opens
£9 for parking is extortionate. If people were going to London from the station and didn't buy tickets in advance it could turn into a very expensive day out. Also, why is there only a half hourly service to the airport? I thought that was one of the main purposes of the station.

Local news report that because so few mainline trains stop at East Midlands Parkway who ever is paying for the bus refuses to run it at more regular intervals as they were 4 mainline trains would stop an hour in each direction.GlennMitchell wrote:£9 for parking is extortionate. I will have to visit this new station when I get a chance in the next few weeks. Is it only mainline services to London? or does some EMT connect serve there?
