Your Train Journeys!

Post by MARKKMUFC »

Have you travelled today by train if so post a message of what station you went from and what station you were going to, also you can put what train company the service was run by.

I travelled today on the Wigan Northwestern Northern Rail Service from St.Helens Central and also from Wigan North Western to Preston run by Virgin Trains.

Get them posts in and thanks for reading!

Basingstoke - Waterloo & back. Was delayed by about 2 minutes on the way in (5 or so at basingstoke, made up ~3 on the way in) by "signalling difficulties" at Eastleigh. The train back (1650 to Yeovil) had the heating set to Inferno. The most remarkable bit about the whole journey was that I had to drive through about 4 lakes on the way from my house to the station in the morning.

The same journey I do every weekday morning:

06:44 southeastern service from Whitstable to London Victoria. Late again! When's that TSR at Swanley going?

Tonight, it'll be the 16:42 from Victoria to Dover Priory, changing at Faversham to pick up the Ramsgate train.

On Northern Ireland Railways Larne line between Downshire and Whiteabbey for my normal week at college. I don't like these early morning forward journeys. So many pupils. The train I was on was 450 class set consist 8451-8791-8781 'Belfast Castle'.

Since this thread was yesterday, yesterday I did:

0554 Loughborough to Leicester (London St Pancras) HST EMT
0616 Leicester to Birmingham New Street 170 XC
0727 Birmingham New Street to Codsall 170 LM.

Not a usual journey for me by any means (at that time at least!) but I had to get to work in Wolverhampton from Loughborough, via a stop at home to get changed!

Ouch thats an early start, although I always love watching the sunrise whilst on a train.

Thats if you were still on a train at sunrise!

We must have crossed paths as I was in Inverness on the night of the 21st, arriving on the NXEC HST from Kings X and leaving on the 9 o'clock Kyle train!

I think I may well have been in the pub by the time you arrived on the NXEC HST, I had been to Loch Ness in the afternoon in blinding sunlight, (yes your reading that right) and I was in need of the more darker surrounding of the Castle Tavern. Di you visit any of the delightful drinking holes on your brief visit?

Well, here is my usual day for work:

07:15 Warrington Central to Manchester Piccadilly - EMT Class 158 (Usually 2 cars)
8:14 Manchester Piccadilly to East Didsbury - Northern Rail Class 323

and then return

17:35 East Didsbury to Manchester Piccadilly - TransPennine Express Class 185
or
17:55 East Didsbury to Manchester Piccadilly - Northern Rail Class 323

then

18:07 Manchester Piccadilly to Warrington Central - EMT Class 158 (2 cars and so overcrowded you stand while others get left on the platform)
or
18:37 Manchester Piccadilly to Warrington Central - Transpennine Express Class 185 (usually quite full with 3 cars)
