Thank you. Have decided to take a short break from it, so I can have a play with Dorset Coast. It takes up so much of my 'MSTS' time, I could do with a breather and the release of V6, and having to re-work some old acts, has given me the perfect excuse.

its my first time on this thread.

ive sort of gone off MSTS in favour of Railsim and Railworks, however im pleased to say that i have been a fan of V2 of this route and V3 looks even more impressive.

i was wondering if by chance you could extend your current 'to do list' so as to include the Glasgow central to East Kilbride Branch. The class 156 runs along this line twice an hour and the line is non-electrified. during rush hour trains are formed up of three class 156's and are always busy. the line is interesting and somewhat short to travel with average speeds of around 35mph. journeys last around 30mins real time each way.

East Kilbride, Hairmyres and thorntonhall are easy enough to model with no complicated scenery. Clarkson and Busby may prove challenging as they might well require some custom buildings to be placed right beside the line. the rest of the route is part open planned in countryside, part forested and part urban towards Glasgow. i dont have any knowledge of exact gradients along the route, only that east kilbride is higher above sea level than Glasgow and that their is a smooth incline on the Pollokshaws to East Kilbride section.

i understand that this project is ongoing and if possible would love to see this addition in a future version. if you feel that it is possible i can also supply photographs of each station and landmarks along the route.

thanks. Chris

Hi.

Sorry, but no plans to extend this route further. All I am doing is scenerising a route that was unfinished and also give the old sections a make-over. I am not a route builder. I'm just fixing what I can and placing scenery. David Carmont did the trackwork and signalling, but is no longer involved with MSTS.

Little bit of activity on the route to report.

Blantyre is on the old v2 section of the route and after Derek (sundaypm) kindly made the station building for me, I've got into RE and finished it off tonight.

It's still classed as WIP as the scenery just beyond the station at both ends is the default scenery from the old version. I'll change that when I officially get round to working on the version 2 stages.

Pictures are on the below link.

As for Wemyss Bay line, I've replaced the platforms at Drumfrochar and the aim is now to work on the scenery from Whinhill to Drumfrochar. Have done a little bit of it, but does need a lot of effort put in. Have also tweaked some of the scenery around IBM station, need to put some higher terrain in there.

Above link has some pics of Airbles station, probably the last major addition for a while as back to full-time work on Monday. Still got a lot done this summer and will still be doing bits and pieces when I can over the coming months.

Niall, i don't really know you but i wonder if you could help me?? I have had MSTS for a week now and i know how to download and extract and put the train files into the right places but i just cant seem to get the routes! I'm trying to get the Scottish Central route but i don't know where to put the files. I have tried "routes" folder but it doesn't recognize it. If anyone can help please do! And rather soonish i don't want to be stuck with the default routes all the time!

Thanks, Nathan

Sorry, Scottish Central is nothing to do with me, can't help you as it's a completely different route by another author.

Try looking/asking in the linked thread below.

Small update from last few weeks.

Wemyss Bay station was put in and is looking nice. There's basic scenery around it which I will leave for now and re-visit if certain scenery items become available.
We've had to cheat a little with it as the poly count was HIGH!

Thanks to Sundaypm for another great model.

The section between Branchton and Drumfrochar is almost done just need to add a little depth of scenery at Branchton. Last job on the line will be scenersing from the tunnel at Inverkip, back to the bridge before Wemyss Bay. This will be a few houses and finding something suitable to put in as the old Inverkip power station. Once these jobs are done, that'll be the version 3 sections at beta stage and focus will turn to the re-working the v2 sections. And I haven't a clue where I'll start!

Finally, I just like to say thanks to those community members who have been contributing models and with help on the route, without you folks, I'd be nowhere right now. As always if anyone wants to help out with a model or two, please get in touch there's always something I would appreciate help with.

Niall

A small update, but a significant one (for me anyway!).

The Beta version of the Wemyss Bay line is now finished, though like the Gourock and Paisley Canal lines I will re-visit occasionally to sort any errors or if I feel I can improve the scenery.

This is significant because it means I am now finished working on all the v3 extensions to the route and can turn my focus fully now on the v2 sections. Anyone who has followed progress will know I've done the odd bit here and there on the v2 sections, now comes the task of joining all those sections up and doing the remaining 30-odd stations!

I've already done a few stations in the Uddingston-Carfin-Motherwell-Airbles areas, so this is where I will probably start, linking up scenery inbetween.

It was built by the guy who started the route, David Carmont. However, with yours being UKFS, it wouldn't fit anyway.

I just asked around and eventually you'll find help. Your best bet is to get all the trackwork and signalling in place, then worry about scenery.
