New S&D Scenario pack
Having drifted away from RS over the last 6 months, I was interested to see that a new S&D scenario pack has been released by RSDL, but I cant see where it has been mentioned anywhere or reviewed. Has anybody purchased this and if so, what were your impressions. Might draw me back, as without steam, I have lost interest in MSTS2 and I have been unable to get MSTS to run since I purchased a Vista pc in January, but that is another story...
Cheers

Re: New S&D Scenario pack
I have tried about 4 or 5 and failed each one ( being late ) due to my lousy driving in expert mode.
I need to retry them and improve on my times ( I hope ).

Yes i have purchased it. I have not had chance to play every scenario but I did the double headed 7F and Black 5 and it can be tricky to get it up the steel hills. I nearly failed but made up for it. I did have 1 minor glitch with it. That was shunting with the Black 5 and was reversing to couple up to a cattle wagon. Before i even got to it the wagon moved whilst i was a good 30 feet away from it. However this stopped and i was able to reverse up to it and couple OK.
Due to current work loads I have not had much chance to have a tinker with the other ones... however the weekend is not that far away which is when i can get to use it.

Re: New S&D Scenario pack
We'll be swimming in scenarios for this route now, that makes it 15 within about 3 weeks of each other when counting my pack as well!
Maybe I won't start work on the second pack I was planning quite so soon then...

Re: New S&D Scenario pack
I just find it incredible that after all this time they have issued a scenario pack with no new engines, when the route became famous for the variety of types that you could see. You can download scenarios from this website that have more than a 7F and a Black 5. There should be at least a 'West Country' (an official one with non-aliased cab) and a Standard Four, with an eye to reuse in the Southern Railways route that has been talked about.

Re: New S&D Scenario pack
Unlikely either of these would be a priority for RSDL. There's already a freeware WC from Matt Ivey plus one long due from Digital Traction, and there's also Sly's BR Standard steam pack in the wings.
It's fair to wonder though what priority RSDL attach to steam-era stuff going forward, more so given that steam is still a question mark for MSTS2.

Re: New S&D Scenario pack
Hopefully there will be a scenario pack for the Newcastle - York route as well as there are not too many scenarios for this route at the moment.

Re: New S&D Scenario pack
Hi,
We are aiming to release scenario packs for all the core routes, they just take time.
We also have a number of locos in production (including steam)
regards
Derek

Re: New S&D Scenario pack
The problem with the WC from Matt, and probably the same with Digital Traction, they won't turn on the Turntable. I sent Adam a PM and he thinks that the largest loco that will turn is the Black 5. He is going to look into extending the limits of the Turntable, the WC from Matt will fit ok without overhang. I hope they will find a solution to it, we need it for the Ilfracombe line, don't we Longbowlongbow wrote:Unlikely either of these would be a priority for RSDL. I'm sure a new one can be built by someone...
