Red lights on Dorset Coast Activites

Post by hellaid »

I got the dorset coast cd in the mail today, so I installed it and upgraded it to version 5, while trying to run certain activities i hit red lights and can not do anything, the 2 I get the problem with that i've noticed so far are Desiro Faliure and Boat Train rescue. As soon as I come up against this lights I cannot continue as the lights never change.

Any ideas as to what I can do to sort this problem out or should I have not Gone up to v5 and stayed at v 3.3?

Have you tried the MSTS Shuffle?, release the brakes on the loco and let it roll back a fraction, then move the train forwards, this should clear the signal. The process is something about clearing the AI paths ahead of you, I think. :)

And if that doesn't work, you have probably arrived too late at the signal, and an AI train has taken your path - you could even have arrived there too early. In either case you can get a stand of that can't be resolved by MSTS, so will probably have to start the activity again. If you post which activity it is, someone might be able to give you the passing times so you can get to the signal when it will clear.

My railway photos are now on Google + - links to the albums are in this thread http://forums.uktrainsim.com/viewtopic. ... 9&t=149558

I have had the same problem with the Desrio Failure. I know another desiro come behind you after a while but I have tried arriving at the red signal early and late, I have reversed away from the red light, had a cup of tea whilst waiting for the light to change and even reversed back enough to de-rail the desiro coming behind me..ooops! I still can't pass this red light. Can anyone help before I resort to leaving the cab and removing the flippin light bulb! ;-)

it would also help to know whereabouts in these activities you're coming up across the red light issue. I'm just about to have a go at Desiro Failure to see what happens for me.

OK,

Arrive at Bournemouth, couple up to the Desiro, stick it into Forward.

Red light part way along platform turns to caution.
Proceed to end of platform for another red light - this clears at about 10:36 after the other Desiro passes
Proceed to next signal at red - this clears about 10:42, and from what I can see, the next signal clears quite quickly afterwards.

That's just it, I can't even get to the Desiro. I am stuck at the red light at the end of the first platform you come to.

Usually red lights which wont change are due to you grabbing a path already reserved for another train service, or vice versa. Try arriving two minutes later than you did the first time and see if that helps. If it doesnt, drive faster and try arriving two minutes earlier.

If I get a chance later i'll give it a run myself, but i remember there were a few activities which were very timing critical and only ran on some PC's and not others.

when you say
the first platform you come to
do you mean at Branksome? If so, then you need to reverse at this point.
