The lights on that 20 look a little misplaced...

But other than that small detail, lovely shots - I love watching rain pour down outside the train window, until of course when you have to get out and run

Nah - its all first gen. 2nd gen isnt the right period for us.

Well it depends if you class 150s as second generation....... I seem to remember these might even got into Lincoln S M

Oh sorry Ali, I thinking the route was 'based' on Mid East which I think was set around 1985.
Still I agree second gen units are just boxes..... or worse....

Well actually, to nit pick, the years I've been working to in looking at the stock pack are 1966/7 to 1986/7 which is roughly 10 years either side of Mid East which was set in the Jubilee Year 1977. This gives a pretty wide canvas and I think you'll be delighted at the stock pack. Folk will always find SOMETHING they think should have been included but I think we've captured the majority of what made Eastern region tick in that time frame, and there'll be some "specials" too!

No 150's but as your link shows Jon they were being tested just like the 58's. If memory serves me well MT do a pack which include railwaves sprinter sounds too for about £6?

There'll be some Green, Two-Tone Green, Blue (with various yellow ends) and even some large Logo. Even a 58 which was being evaluated and was turned out in Railfreight Grey long before it became a norm. DMU's are a few green, mainly blue of course, a few B/G and some nice 101's in the rather smart refurbished white with a Blue Stripe. Ian has been brilliant in providing models and advice on freight stock and over that 20 years this in itself saw a revolution from the remnants of unbraked stock through to modern air braked stock. I've reference that shows both extremes here in ONE consist..... which of course MSTS won't do. We have a solution. You may not all like it, but Mick has spent ages fine tuning the physics of just about everything and IT WORKS! This includes perhaps some of the most unheralded work in the library. The 1st Generation DMU sounds which link with 4 gear driving. Having commuted in 117's for a couple of years back in the 70's I can guarantee that this is as real as it gets! Modern Push and Go / Pull and Stop DMU fans will HATE THEM ....but they are a real challenge to drive well and maintain a timetable.

Once you've got the route you can run what you like on it of course but we've really gone all out to make this as authentic as possible as far as the stock is concerned. BTW the route has no gantries. Electrification took place in stages during the routes era and the 20 year span really took the ECML from Steam to Electrification. However for those who can suspend disbelief you'll be able to run electric stock on the route. Micks "reopened" some of what Beeching had closed to make routings and activities more interesting and the percentage still awaitng scenery is shrinking as we speak. Only Mick knows the exact extent but I'd estimate something like 85% complete. I've been testing now for a few years and it still blows me away when I run some sections.

Trust me it'll have been worth the wait and I'll be gobsmacked if anyone's disappointed.

Yes your right, freight was the most interesting....... and lots of old wagons still around.
I believe it was common practise to run modern air braked stock, at the rear of vacuum braked trains, with their more efficient brakes isolated. I think with a reduced speed of 45mph, brake vans of course.
Masses of freight running from March to Doncaster via the Lincoln avoiding line, something like a train every 10 Min's, all trundling along.
Which kept the ECML free for high speed passenger trains.
Dirty mixed livery Class 31s, Class 37s and a few Class 40s, mainly dual braked.
Electrification is an interesting point as I seem to remember the suburbs out of the cross, were electrified as early as 1975.
I can certainly remember non boilered green class 47s up to 1976.
Used to see them on Fly Ash trains, occasional oil train through Lincoln SM, although Immingham kept their fleet blue and clean.
Unfortunately the Derby Lightweights don't really fit though, as I think they were scrapped late 60s.
There are freeware class 150s available.... I think the MT ones are the later 150/1s
I know Tim stated the route was based around the jubilee year (1977), however it always appeared to me more based around 1986/7, but without the previously mentioned electrification of course.
