Starting MSTS on computer

Post by JPMASSON »

Hello,
Could someone please explain the following "mystery" ?
I own a "regular" MSTS game, duly bought with the two installation CDs, which I use either on a desk or a laptop computer.
For every session on the desk PC, I must insert one of the CDs to launch MSTS (quite normal isn'it). It was the same on the laptop, until recently (maybe when I installed the "Languedoc" route) ; now, on this laptop PC I'm no longer requested to insert a CD and MSTS launches right from the mouse click on the corresponding icon. Why ?
Of course I'd be interested to get the same situation on the desk computer, not for cheating of course , but to save time and wearing of the CD.
Has anybody got the clue ?...
Thank you in advance !

sounds like you've installed the MSTS Patch on the laptop and not on your main PC.

Hi
I think upgrading with the Bin patch will achieve this too......... and is well worth it.

But that is because you must have the 1.4 Patch installed before you can install Bin.

And Bin is definitely worth installing! :D

Hello again,
Thank you for your answers.
In fact, to the best of my knowledge, the MSTS versions are the same on my two PCs and, checked on the laptop right now, are described as "Patch 1.3".
Bin Patch is not installed on any of the two ; I dowloaded it some weeks ago, but was not sure about installing it, fearing it might bring problems (or worse...). Your opinions will probably rub out my hesitations. But this arise a new question : what is MSTS Patch 1.4 and where to find it ? (I've understood it is mandatory before installing Bin Patch).
Thank you again for your help.

http://steam4me.railpage.org.au/trainsi ... index.html has a link to it - the 1.2 and 1.4 patch are the same thing - just MS numbering being funny.
