Cursed copy of RS?

General discussion about Rail Simulator that doesn't really fit in to any specific category. A good place to start if you're not sure what category it should fit in to as well.

Cursed copy of RS?

Post by smarty2 »

Hi all, having some weird happenings on my freshly re installed copy of RS, i have installed all the upgrades as per instructions, downloaded Richard Armstrongs scenario pack and tried out the first scenario and noticed this weirdness! http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=D97AcZqZXws When you release the brakes the train rapidly increases in speed? also the HST's drivers are sitting on top of the roofs? and there is some weird texture problem with the lead Mk3 coach and yes it is patched with the RS patch. I am beginning to think my copy is cursed with all the problems i am suffering with it! It only does this with the scenarios downloaded, i have tried different routes and different scenarios without this happening? I appreciate the HST is going a fair lick but you can clearly see the afore mentioned anomalies.

Currently recreating Salisbury to Exeter 50s/60s.
almost all yard, trackwork, scenery and signalling complete salisbury - wilton. Trackwork 2013 standard to Gillingham, Older beyond. - Abandoned due to newer tools in subsequent TS versions.

The TTA problem is something which was sporadic with me, sometimes it did it, sometimes it didn't. I don't quite know why but it's manageable. On the note of the coach and driver problems, download this updated version of the Extra Stock http://armstrongpowerhouse.com/free_dow ... _Stock.zip

Sorry about the problem

Hi Richard, you can appreciate my frustration, not with your products but with RS still throwing up errors even though the installation of the sim was literally minutes old! However i did laugh though when i saw the drivers on the roofs obviously in need of some fresh air

I can understand your frustration! I honestly haven't a clue why the drivers are on top of the roof like that, do the sounds for the MTU work fine?

hi richard

I breifly ran the Class 66 with the Tankers last evening but i dont think i saw any issue with the drivers in the couple of HST's that i saw. I did however have that jolting of acceleration. I will retest again after work with your download above.

* Edit * I also had the same problem when using the HTA wagons and unloading them at the coal shoots. The loco would accelerate of its own accord.

THanks
A computer that's more than adequate to run TS

Hi All

I loaded the updated stock pack last night - however I'm still seeing the "flying driver" on the Midland HST (Manchester-Gatwick activity). Haven't noticed any other anomalies though.

The engine to RS has gone belly up, i must say though is it just me or is this product just rushed beyond rushed? I had to re-install mine because after downloading from digital traction.net the last train from london paddington to oxford, RS wouldn't respond, it took forever to load.

That video looks like RS runs like water out of a tap for you, i'm looking forward to experiencing that with a better machine!

Tim, I apologise for all this inconvenience, I've uploaded yet another updated version of the extra stock so I hope you won't mind downloading that at:
http://armstrongpowerhouse.com/free_dow ... _Stock.zip

The alternative to downloading this updated version of the extra stock is to download my replacement Valenta sounds at:
Click to view more informationClass 43 (HST) Valenta Replacement Sounds [829791 bytes] - Replacement HST Sounds V3.exe
File ID: 18172 Date: 27 Jul 2008 - 3927 Downloads

This should solve the driver problem for the Midland Mainline HST.

Sorry once again.

Hiya Jungrail, yes well i spent a wedge of cash on the puter, built it myself, much cheaper, just waiting to save up for another water block for my other 8800 GTX so i can run it in SLI mode, mind you saying that i briefly tried it in SLI but didn't see any improvement?? Probably my overclocked Quad core Phenom not up to scratch?

Cheers

I can confirm that SLI is making no (or very very little) difference (what is it with simulators, I fear that even MSTS2 will not be optimized for SLI) .. the best bet (at least for RS)is to cool the northbridge and use a good cooling solution for the processor and overclock the FSB all the way ..

Yes a pity that, my cpu is liquid cooled as is my vga unfortunately my northbridge has those rubbish ali heatsinks which are placed directly next/under my vga card making a decent cooling option nigh impossible! :( (asus m2n-sli)
