Having recently retired I thought I would try and master building a route - my son lives up in Cockermouth so I chose the CKPR - Lakeland. I successfully laid out markers in Google and transferred these to the new route also purchased Demax and Mosaic and the terrain looked good in the editor file. I started laying track south of Workington to bring in the steel works and then turning right onto the CKPR proper. Just west of Cockermouth I hit the white void. I have checked the Long/Lat with the geometry Extrator in MSTS and I am well within the limits. I have searched in route building on the forum and have read a few inputs - can anyone point me in the right direction of an article where I can learn what to do to sort this. When I look at the "white Void" all the terrain (ghost like is there) just no tiles. I don't want to lose what I have inputed so far?
Thanks John

Re: New Route - White Void
Have you checked to make sure you've generated the right tiles.

Re: New Route - White Void
As Don has suggested, I think you've run off the edge of the tiles you defined in RGE.
I would double check the lat/long coordinates and tile ids of what you've created in RGE and compare with what you see in RE.

Re: New Route - White Void
Hi thanks for the replies - have opened the RE and checked the limits of the "tiles" 54.71460 - 54.51505 and in the west -3.61581
When I check this with the Geometry extractor this is what I anticipated and planned ie "west" and looking at the Quad-Tree towards the left hand side of the crossed squares rectangle.
However in the "East" right hand side of the Quad-Tree crossed squares they reach to the same 54.71460 - 54.51505 but with -2.756327
MSTS RE however tiles finish at -3.47833 ( I believe if I am correct? the tiles should be from east to west -3.61581 to -2.756327) I don't know why they have not generated?
Hope this explains the problem correctly as I am on a learning curve with this.
Incidently I did purchase "step by step Guide" Micheal Vone which I have read and have been following and has been a great help.

Re: New Route - White Void
You have done nothing wrong. I tried to do the same as you and encountered the same white void in the same place. All I could do was to move the start tile position so that it was north east in relation to the void boundary, all then reappeared in Route Editor. The problem only occurs going west to east.
My plan was to use Route Riter to shift the whole route, but I understand that you have to complete the route before doing this as further editing is not possible.
Derek.

Re: New Route - White Void
Thanks - I have moved the start tile as you said and this has recitified the situation - I can now see the full route tiles. I have noticed however that when I ran a test train over the track I have laid I again got to the point where the original "white void" started and it was there again.
Reading your recomendation I think the best way forward is to finish the route with RE as it is, then once I have done this I believe you said "move" the whole route with the aid of Route Riter. (I presume that will allow a train to move throughout the route)
I am a long way off this at the present time, so when I get to that position I will read up on Route Riter help and hopefully that will sort it.
Thanks to all who have responded

Re: New Route - White Void
Do you know that the Bin patch has eliminated the white void?
Alan
My railway photos are now on Google + - links to the albums are in this thread http://forums.uktrainsim.com/viewtopic. ... 9&t=149558
Lots of steam and early diesels from 1959 to 1963.

Re: New Route - White Void
With being new to the "route Building" I was not aware of the "Bin Patch" but I have now visited the site and downloaded the patch - I have not installed it yet but will do in the near future when we return from Hols.
Thanks for the info

Re: New Route - White Void
Bin will permit tile objects to be increased by about 20%, and more if you're willing to risk stability. It is an absolute must have in my opinionstudan wrote:With being new to the "route Building" I was not aware of the "Bin Patch" but I have now visited the site and downloaded the patch - I have not installed it yet but will do in the near future when we return from Hols.
