Rainy, foggy, but it's not England...

Post by popol »

Hi all

Autumn is back... So are the rain and the fog. Storms are over the Channel, and boats are struggling to reach the nearest port.
Inland, the situation isn't better. Streets are deserted. The very few people out are running for shelter. Even used to this weather local inhabitants are better in warm homes...
In Cherbourg station, there is a little more activity. While a mainline service to Paris is waiting its next duty, a regional service is about to depart to Caen. So let's follow it!

Oh, and of course, this is Normandy !

Hi

Thanks for all your comments. The route is the "Paris Cherbourg", actually going from Cherbourg to Lison, 75 km away. There are two versions: one electrified, the other not. It's pretty old now, but still a very good one!
It's available here: http://www.funtrain.net/index.php?cible=ligne&id=22

Now back to Normandy. The weather isn't getting any better. Actually, it's even worse. Our train is waiting for the last passegers to board in Valognes, and is ready to continue its route to Caen. We'll go across the inland Normandy, through bogs and fields.

End of the trip in Lison. I hope you liked it. If the weather gets better, perhaps another trip could be organise!

Cheers

The attention to detail on the scenery on that route is absolutely stunning! :D :D :D

Some of those screenshot could quite easily pass as "paintshopped" photographs.
