Class 455 images

Post by JasVick »

Hi Folks, can anyone helps?

I am trying to get hold of a very clear square front end view of a 455/7 and/or 455/9 modify the msts 455s. I have been trying to get to some good locations, but everytime something ends up in my way, and as I don't get to london area very often, it can be annoying!!! The images would only be for personal use (for obvious reasons!).

Also, would anyone have any artist impressions or good side on shots showing any of the liveries such as the legoland/windsor/british legion or wine liveries which I could use as I would like to have one or two all-over ads running round! (again for private use)

Thanks in antipation :D

The second batch (Class 455/7) and the The final batch (Class 455/9), differ from the 455/8s in having a revised front end, air horns relocated next to the coupler and revised headlamp clusters, which was later used on the Class 317/2 & 318.

On Class 455/7, one of the TSO was added from Class 508 which ran on Southern Region as 4 car sets, and transfered to Merseyrail as 3 car sets and left one to be inserted to Class 455/7.

The Class 455/9 arrived later, are similar to the 455/7s, except that they had new-build TSOs.

I found some class 455s in advertising liveries:

There is even more class 455/8s in advertising liveries;

Ben Laws (SteelixB) has built class 455/8 in September 2002 and are the only types available for msts.
Class 455/7 and 455/9 can be converted from Class 317s, but will probably require resizing to match the rest of the stock properly, which can be done by Shape File Manager, available from UKTS.

One thing is that you will not have 3rd rail shoe. Hope that this doesen't spoil you.

Hope you like the pictures and all the information you need. Any help, please post this fourm as soon as possible.

Cheers, JasVick :D

Thanks for the above mate, useful links. Also was aware of the differences but hadn't even thought of using a 317 front, nice one :D - should be perfect for what I need! Oh and yes, shoes I aint worrid about cos you don't tend to notice them when they are flying past you

Was just trying to recreate the right shape basically as I know there are some slight variations. Bodywise they are good and I'm using the newer swt livery version. Can use PSP or paint to recolour the front so should be ok.

All thats missing from this little collection now is the 458 and we are away!!!!!

Yes - thats the sort of thing! Anything would help - if its a cut and paste job then its much easier for me because I can just resize the image and paste onto the old one! Thanks for the help and info.... much appreciated - was thinking bout doing something similar with a 334 for a 458? Not sure how accurate they would be though...

I also did a class 455/7 & Class 455/9 type of DMSO last night. I have compressed the S. file (either Route Riter or SFM) and resized and rename from "class317" to read "class455" and "clas317b" to "clas455b". I've also renamed "319int" to read "321int". The ommision of the shoe will probubly not cause a problem as the same thing happened on SWT 455 as an Al stock included in London Brighton express which superseded by LSC.
