A Week With 45407

Post by JonathonAG »

Hello guys,

I decided, with permission from Ian, to try and lend a hand again with his Black 5 No. 45407 and further educate myself. I did a Thursday to Thursday shift which involved 1T57 and moving up to Scotland, and I have to say, it was great....and again learned a great deal more than I used to. However, I did manage to get some photos aswell.....can't get the photographer blood out of me.

Lots more photos ( better ones I believe ) from the Jacobite's here : http://www.jonathonag.fotopic.net/c1562294.html

There are plenty more photos on my website, and I also have more which I could upload at a later point. I do have some taken while we had our stay in Carnforth Steamtown, but even so soon after the Open Day, I'm not sure if it would be good uploading much of them, although one of 45407 in full sun there will definately appear at some point!

Would just like to say thanks to Ian, Stu, Simon and Rob for their excellent company this week and Ian especially for letting me join again. Also, special thanks to James who very kindly allowed me to join him in the car on Wednesday for photographing the Jacobite and showing me all the great photo locations, deifnately my most entertaining day of train chasing.

I'll try upload more photos soon.

Jonathon, lovely shots as ever, especially the one above. I have a similar shot to that one.
can't get the photographer blood out of me.
I don't think I can either! Glad to see you had a good time with 45407.

That viaduct photo reminds me of the Harry Potter films.

Thanks for the comments guys. Yeah, it's the same viaduct jtiffin, Glenfinnan....was quite a quick run up to that location, I would have went higher up the hill but with tight timings I didn't dare it!

And as for 45407, can't get enough of her....she's fast become my special loco!

We all have our special locos Jon :D Mine would have to be 4953 Pitchford Hall - I help clean her at Tyseley some Saturdays with a couple of mates.

Superb shots there, agreed that's a great shot of 45407 and 70013. If the overhead wires weren't there it could be a shot from 1968, made into grayscale perhaps.

Unless they had wires at Carlisle in the late 60s of course. Would look better without them IMO anyway. :D
