I know this maybe a slightly daft question. I see some of the older locos have SOLD stickers on them.

What exactly happens once an engine like this is sold? Are they just stripped for parts or do they get fully refurbished? ... or maybe its a bit of both?

cheers

Bit of both.

I was told that the engines outside (such as 47489) were for spares and the ones inside the diesel shed (such as 37710) were going to be restored, whether that is true I don't know however one thing I was told is true is that WCRC had only one operational diesel on site and that was 33025!
