Not sure where to post this but thought here would be a good place in case anyone else comes across this
Has anyone seen this error before ????????
AppName: train.exe AppVer: 1.16.5.912 ModName: train.exe
ModVer: 1.16.5.912 Offset: 00117505
I've backed up stock, routes, globals etc and uninstalled - cleaned registry - rebooted - reinstalled and still get this message.
I installed bin 1.7.0929. on the Dec2001 train.exe so am at a bit of a loss

When you installed Bin did you also copy the .dll files?

Hi Alan
Yes dlls were altered as usual - just checked the Bin backup folder and the train.exe is the File version 1.16.5.912 and its version 1.4 dated 11/12/2001
In the Bin installed train.exe its File version 1.16.5.912 and its version 1.4 dated 19/5/2007

Re: New Error message BIN related ????
All I can suggest you uninstall Bin using its uninstaller, make sure the MSTSBIN_BACKUP folder has been removed, download Bin again and run its installer. You might want to try 1.8.052113 which works well for most who have used it.
I think uninstalling and reinstalling MSTS was a waste of your time - plenty of other postings explain why a reinstall rarely corrects anything.

I have tried all versions of BIN up to the latest release and still get this same problem. I think I'm going to try an install onto a separate drive next.
Edit
An after thought when I reinstalled and ran MSTS without any additions added unpatched and no BIN it ran straight out of the box.

But did you check it had removed the 'MSTSBIN_BACKUP' folder as Alan suggested, the files are always removed but the folder is sometimes left causing errors. Just a thought.Never had a problem with the uninstaller not removing the backup files.

Re: New Error message BIN related ????
Robert yes the bin backup folder is deleted as well - sorry didn't make it clear in previous post.
As I said earlier wasn't sure where to post this - thought it may be of more value here incase any newcomers have a similar problem.
Never had any problems with BIN or installing it - Till now

EDIT
Just reread http://forums.uktrainsim.com/viewtopic. ... &sk=t&sd=a and checked all the details there, tried different train.exe update files and still the problem exists. Getting totally mystified now

Re: New Error message BIN related ????
UPDATE
Last Night I reinstalled MSTS onto the E:drive (ts another SATA drive) and let my head cool down a little
.
I've got the 1.4 patch installed and then got the latest BIN installed straight away. Repointed Activity Analysis, RouteRiter and Trainstore to the new installation and all appears to be well with just the default routes installed.
Now in the process of transferring my Routes Globals and Trainset folder over, so fingers crossed I'll be back in the hunt so to speak

Re: New Error message BIN related ????
Hmm this now gets interesting -Defaults / Bala / BD/ CC5 / ELR / GE /LSE / LSC / Skipton /Steyning / Swanage / TM / WMCL / YCR all work in the new setup but BRW70 / BrisCard / GWR don't and give the train.exe message.
Looking at uninstalling the last three routes and trying again, unless anyone has any further ideas???
Sorry for double posting

Re: New Error message BIN related ????
Have you tried installing the latest Tsection.dat, or using Trainstore to point all routes to a copy held outside MSTS? Have a look here http://forums.uktrainsim.com/viewtopic. ... e+tsection to see what I mean about Trainstore.

Hi johnmnstl,
BristolCard requires these did you install them?
BristolCard requires these did you install them?
Which GWR, P2P or Toddington? You will also need to have installed platform kits (UKTrainSim files 1186, 1211) and to guarantee no problems XTracks 3.13 or later and tsection.dat build 33 or later and MSTS Newroads (UKTS file 6254).

Alan
Thats how I always set my Tsection up - have done for a couple of years now.
Robert
Yup all the necessary files are installed. never had problems like this tho. and the GWR is P2P.
As previously mentioned the problem with the train.exe comes up about 75% of the way through installing an activity to run.

Re: New Error message BIN related ????
Hi John,
Only mentioned it as I know from experience, when you get into problems like this you sometimes overlook the obvious.
It is strange this as I know that P2P is a 'Community CD' so all relevant files will have been loaded and as you say you are pointing to the latest Tsection via Train Store.
Hope you get sorted with this.

Re: New Error message BIN related ????
Robert your sigs starting to ring true
UPDATE TIME
After a little reallocation of Tsection away from my external copy and back to it I've now got P2P and BrisCard running again
Now the BR(W) is turning into a saga now - no matter what I do I still get the train.exe error and having read through the message to Bill, I see a comment that its unable to generate small blocks (of what)
Going to try taking BRW off and instead of running JB's BAT file I'll see if RouteRiter can sort it, even tho when you check the route with RR you get no errors found.
Haven't got any MSTS installation on the Vista partition yet so may try a quick install on there with just P2P and BR(W)70 on there
EDIT
Just installed MSTS with identical BIN patch onto Vista and copied the BRW route over and it works fine
now to find out how to get it back working on XP

Re: New Error message BIN related ????
Having spent the last couple of hours trying to get BR(W) running in XP All other routes are working now. As mentioned above the route works fine on my Vista setup I'm open to suggestions from all as to why a route will run on one os but not the other. BTW for clarification I copied and pasted the exact same version of BR(W) from the routes folder in XP to Vista
Am I starting to loose the plot and looking too far into this???
