Activity Locomotives

Post by ThomasTelford »

Hi there folks. :D

I'm about to get brave and have a go and creating my own activity but there is something i was wondering before i gave it a go.I know this has been talked about quite a few times and indeed i have read about it but i cannot find the thread where i read about it. :-? Any help would be wonderfull!
Now for a guess the player consists should be headed by a locomotive that carries the symbol that looks a little like an engine (just like when your in explore route mode...i.e a drivable engine) but here is the thing that has me scratching my head a little more. Can the A1 traffic be made up of other consists using player/driveable loco's or does it have to be headed be a loco that has the #symbol by the side of it?If so then i have to get busy making up a whole lot of new consist using #locomotives.
One last thing i was wondering about (as far as this thread is concearned) What is the perpose of loco's that have no symbol by the side of the in the consist editor, are these loco's ment to be used purely as 'decoration' and placed in sidings when running an activity or are these powered and for use when 'double heading' a train?

Many thanks in advance for any help....regards Thomas Telford. :fadein:

Hi
In the early days of MSTS, PCs struggled for resources so having 'cut down' locos as AI trains made sense.
Also steam engines wheels went too fast, finally sounds needed to be altered.
Since the bin patch most of this has become unnecessary, so ordinary locos can be used, unless you want a 'dead' stationary loco.
Route Riter can produce both types.
Cheers

Yes. As Jon says, its isnt necessary any longer to differentiate between AI loco's and the Player service loco by using stock with the # prefix. You can use any of the loco's offered to you in the activity editor, for player, AI or static.
