I find 20-30 fps looks fine to me.
Shift-z displays the current framerate in the bottom right of the screen in small green numbers.

Hi
Anything less than 12 will start to look too 'choppy'
Shift+Z shows frame rates.
Cheers

Hi,
25 frames per second. Is the maximum the human eye can register. TV. is transmited at that and films are shown at that.
So apart from pauses to load items, eg. scenery or Ai traffic. gswindales 20-30 should do fine.

Also depends a bit on how fast you are driving - at low speed (<25-30mph), I find lower frame rates are tolerable (anything over 10 fps), but for high speed running, need at least 20. As it happens, a lot of the more intensive sections of routes are in areas where you would prototypically run at low speed (for example approach to terminus or other major station), so this works out quite well!

No quarrels with anything posted but..... change view and viewpoint as you drive along and watch how this affects the so called frame rate reading (bottom left hand corner of screen BTW when you press Shift + Z) and you'll see that it's rather an academic measure? Most reasonable set ups with BIN installed will run the sim fairly smoothly but high detail stock, passing AI and heavily populated tiles will take a toll and may cause stuttering whilst they load. Basically if it looks reasonable to you then it's OK isn't it? What I'm saying is don't get hung up on chasing numbers. They vary constantly as the sim runs.

Sorry to take issue, but they are different, one is 24 and the other 25,that is why the running time for films shown on TV is different to the cinema running time.douglee wrote:Hi,

Hi Tim,
I defer to your point.
It's always worth getting it right.
Still, the number of frames that can be registered by the human eye is, no higher than, 25FPS. How's that?
Shebrose is happy with 5-9FPS.
1FPS is OK. If you want to make a cup of tea.
